Tyga - Cali Love

You have to feel a little sorry for Best of the Booth-winning up-and-comer Tyga; on top of the fact that he’s still Outraged & Underage in ‘09, his relative youth means that he missed out on much of West Coast hip-hop’s golden age. Though he admits he wasn’t alive back when Ice Cube and Dre first put his home state on the map, the newest leak off his forthcoming mixtape nonetheless finds him wondering, “What happened to the Cali Love?”  Over Hustle Heart‘s bass-heavy brass and looped piano, Tyga pays tribute to the Left Coast greats, and states his intention to restore the region to its former glory.  He’s in good company—with The Game‘s current popularity, as well as the efforts of fellow up-and-comers like Nipsey Hussle and Jay Rock, could a Cali comeback be on the horizon?  The DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar-presented Outraged & Underage mixtape is scheduled to drop March 2nd.
