Let’s get straight to the point: any beliefs about Twista being all dressing and little main course (see his last track Make a Movie) should be completely dead after listening to The Heat, a cut off the Chi-Town spitter’s upcoming album The Perfect Storm. Unlike the smorgasbord that was Kanye West’s See Me Now, all of the ingredients in Heat, from the blues rock production by No I.D. and The Legendary Traxster to the feature by The Chef work to steam cooked perfection. Raekwon continues the streak he started the moment OB4CL2 dropped last September, by making sure his guest verse is peppered with odes to Chicago gangsters and his own impeccable sense of being above all other emcees. However, there’s no doubt that this joint belongs to the Chicago fire breather as his complex wordplay (see, the man does have lyrics) in the first verse both declares his rap immortality and segues perfectly into Raekwon’s 16. If it contains more music like The Heat, maybe Twista should rename his album The Perfect Meal by the time it drops on October 26.

While I found Twista's "Make a Movie" stale and overdone, "The Heat" is fresh and vibrant. The tempo is anti-Twista (this is about as slow as you'll hear him rap), but the execution from all four parties works very very well.

I think that Twista should rap like this ALL the time. While I think his speed demon rap is incredible, I can never understand what he is saying. This is perfect though.

Where do I begin?
1. Getting BOTH of Chicago's hip-hop godfather beatsmiths on a track gets instant co-signs. Both of them combine to form that smooth jazz. 2. I see the Chef masters Chicago-style dishes too. 3. As for Twista...even slowed down, he can excel. Getting back with Trax was the best move of his recent career, and now we're treated to the fullest fruits! |

This is really good. I can actually understand every word that Twista is saying. "They shoulda toldem that I flow like petroleum and I been cold at the podium since break dancing on lenoleum!" Twista put it down on this joint.

Damn! Twista put it DOWN on this track. I like how he slowed down his flow just a touch here to really hear the lyrics. Production is sick. This is real "back-pack" type $hit right here. Good stuff. Raekwon also did his thing. BANGER!

he brings the "heat" with this one. Maybe my Miami Heat will use that line "there's no escaping the Heat." let's just program directors will bless listener's ears instead of playing who they determine are hot.

Super dope. An album that features even half of Twista's tracks at this pace would blow people away. Rae obviously suits this beat very well.

A really well-thought out collab. The 2 artists as well as producers make magic on this record. Twista's verses are like Usain Bolt if he had to run a 800m... Entertaining... but rather stick to what made you famous in the 1st place. None the less, extremely enjoyable

Twist really went in on this song; it’s the best I've ever heard him rap. It's never easy to outdo Reakwon but Twista dominated this song.

Twista's verse is the most lyrical I've ever heard from him.
No I.D. and Traxster together is just classic. Love the jazzy beat and sample. Raekwon smashed his 16, but it's very obvious the star of this show is Twista. |

Probably my favorite Twista track since Slow Jamz. Production is smooth and both Twista & Rae killed it.
No I.D. & Legendary Traxster need to make beats together more often. |
