Truck North - Timeless Ageless
Artist: Truck North
Producer: Havoc
Album: Todd Craig’s Tor’cha 2.0: We Back And You Mad About It
Label: Black Ink/Rawlife
Looking for a last-minute Christmas gift for someone who likes listening to hip-hop and reading, possibly at the same time? Todd Craig has just the thing: Tor’cha, an innovative urban novel that comes complete with an interactive CD-ROM that features, among other things, an original soundtrack. The latest leak off a forthcoming, expanded version of the soundtrack mixtape, comes courtesy of Truck North, previously heard as a guest on The Roots’ Criminal and Statik Selektah‘s Jaded. Backed by Mobb Deep rapper/producer Havoc‘s chopped guitar-organ instrumental, Timeless Ageless finds the Philadelphia rapper spitting about the enduring power of hip-hop – in particular, the “basic, old-school, diggin’ in crates sh*t.” Needless to say, the sentiment is one that just about everyone in the Booth will be able to relate to. How does this cut tie into Todd Craig’s multimedia novel? Don’t ask me – you’ll have to pick up Tor’cha 2.0: We Back And You Mad About It when it drops December 21, to find out for sure.

I've heard lots of material from Truck over the past few years, but nothing ever stood out to me as feature-worthy. Then "Timeless Ageless" came across our inbox...

Another solid cut today, the Booth's line-up is strong today. I hear a little bit of BlackThought in Truck's flow, a Philly connection perhaps? I don't give out comparisons like that easily, loved this cut.

I'm uncertain of my feelings on this one. This is my first time hearing Truck North and wasn't too moved by this. I guess the overall movement of this records wasn't my cup of tea but not bad or garbage or anything of that nature. This record just doesn't really move me.

i found the production a bit annoying. that constant beeping sound really distracted me from the lyrics and truck's flow. what i hear was good though. like hollis said not my cup of tea but a rotation rating nonetheless.

I understand where my fellow Booth members coming from, joint is both intriguing and extremely annoying, not-that-bad and too repetitive at the same time. And I blame its fault on the beat, which is stuck on one-note throughout. Truck North was decent, I guess.
