Truck North + The 3rd - Out There
Artist: Truck North + The 3rd
Featuring: Truck North
Producer: DJ Premier
Album: Nah Right x Elevator Music Presents: Reconstruction Mixtape
Label: Black Ink/Rawlife
Some of the best collaborations come from chance encounters (no, not you Soulja and Gucci). After meeting at Rock the Bells in Detroit last year, Truck North and The 3rd have been making some pretty good noise together. If you need an example, look no further than their newest offering, Out There, which highlights the talents on both ends of the spectrum. Backed by DJ Premier‘s gritty and string-laden production, North and The 3rd all bounce back and forth on their bars like they’ve been together for years, giving listeners a taste of what they have to come: “It’s like the coming of a king, until nine months later a prince hits the scene.” Be sure to check their Nah Right x Elevator Music Presents: Reconstruction Mixtape, due out in late May. As always, Booth Heads, keep it locked for more.

The 3rd - Continuing to relentlessly carve and carefully engrave what they clearly hope is a permanent place in the minds of hip hop heads for the city of Columbus, Ohio. They show promise to be what Outkast is to Atlanta, Roots is to Philly, Common is to Chicago... The official sound, voice and trademark of a city for those who know better... Truck kills it, Preemo does Preemo. I must say, it's about time Elevator Music, Three-Are-Dee... your debut album "1979" on iTunes last December will soon be a reflection of what was missed by so many just before the world knew. Stay hungry. Keep pushing.

Don't think I've ever considered a DJ Premier track anything less than in rotation. That (although it was one of his lower end beats) along with the fact that the verses were hot is a very good thing!

I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I'm not disappointed. Good beat, all-right lyrics, preemo spits like always. Overall, I wasn't amazed but I really enjoyed it.

Yep.. I felt this one. Way farther along on the beat/flow skill-set than some of the more commercial sounding tracks out today. So.. yep, keep em coming, this one's bangin in rotation.

I'm liking this one. I like the beat. The lyrics are pretty good. Somehow I've never heard of Truck North. I'll have to listen to some more of him.

I was boppin' my head the moment Truck started rapping. This guy has got a flow that's for sure. I'm curious though, how many people were involved with this track? Is this a duo or is this guy just changing his voice up? I'm confused.
Whatever, the case this is hot. I really like the "Is anybody out there" echoing on in the background. This is a pretty hot track. |

Just like my previous post, this track is bangin' but I don't see myself playing this more than 2,3 more times.
BTW I'm lovin' the new layout on the homepage! |

DJ Premier of course brings us a greatly produced track without going crazy or overboard with sounds and effects. I mean everyone practically said it all already...everyone absolutely killed it and that leaves me wanting to put this on my Ipod Touch ASAP!! Never heard of these artists but after listening to this I will be checking for more of their stuff. DJ Booth is so good at bringing a wide variety of artists and not just the same mainstream people over and over so props to the Booth and DJ Z for sure!

Old School stuff that is OK, never gets really special. The rap quality is quite good but the song misses something that makes it stand out from those 10.000 songs like this already out there.

Another top-notch Primo ish! Skillfully warped together swirling strings and low blasts of horn, vocal loop, and of course prominent drum-line. Rappers ably does justice to the compelling soundscape, adding their brand of lyrical onslaught with distinct flows. I like it a lot!

You know that any track produced by Primo is goin to be at least a banger, the guy only releases dope music. The verses are dope, I had never heard of any these guys spit before but they really (really) impressed me with there delivery.

Even though it's off-topic, but R.I.P. to Guru, my man passed away from cancer, just listening to Preemo production reminded me of those times listening to GangStarr. The track is dope though, the verses are dope, and the production is perfect for this type of the track, where you just spit spit, and again spit. Hope these dudes get recognition.

@The5JAY13, I agree. The beat, made up of tuba/brass sounding notes, sounds a little stilted and unfinished...not really my style.
@Sigurd, I also agree that they do work well together. The flow is pretty sick, with them spittin out lines left and right. Their voices were very distinct from each other, but they were complements as opposed to competitors. The actual lines themselves aren't standout though, and neither was the hook. The lines were all over the place, with topics ranging from being a real man to sippin "Pay-trone." Overall, the beat was just too distracting for me to enjoy the track. I say skip this one, but keep an eye out for these lyricists in the future-maybe they'll improve with time and development. |

The beats is well produced, don't need no outside noises and horns to make a good beat. This simpleness is good for these dudes to spit their rhymes. The repetitiveness of "is anybody out there" goes well with this song. Good Production, however this isn't banger status. Just a high rotation production.

The last 2 verses made a damn scene on this track, concrete lyrics, no disrepect to the first 2 because they did their thing. The beat is nice, it drowned out my boy on the first verse tho but all around im feeling it.

In agreement with DJ Something. Premier never fails when it comes to making beats that emcees can simply just rip to. The repetitiveness of his production sucks you in, even if the emcees on the track aren't the greatest. Not taking anything away from Truck or The 3rd's verses.

DJ Premier is definitely an originator of the genre, but I've heard better from him in the past. I do like the song though. Great lyricism, and content.

Again some more dope production. Has a raw feel to it and at the same time doesn't feel like its too much.
Track has some sick wordplay. Both Truck North and The 3rd lay down some tight verses on "Out There." Not one line on here that seems out of place. A really good track that is well rounded. Damn the last verse is definitely my favorite. It has some real emotion in it, I had to listen to it twice just to take it all in. I can't even choose one bar that I liked the best, the entire thing is mean. Just a sick song overall. |

Premo can do no wrong. The production on this is Classic (yes, with a capital C) and the verses certainly do it justice.
