Trick Daddy - Why They Jock
Artist: Trick Daddy
Producer: Mizzle Boy [for Heavy Bank Productions]
Album: Finally Famous: Born a Thug, Still a Thug
Label: Dunk Ryder/Poe Boy/Universal
The latest in a long line of artists to tire of major-label shenanigans and take their grind elsewhere, Miami icon Trick Daddy has left Slip-N-Slide in search of greener pastures on the indie side, and, with the release of his Dunk Ryders/Poe Boy/Fontana./Universal-distributed eighth album, the Miami icon plans to prove that authenticity and quality are as relevant to today’s game as they were when hip-hop began. On new single Why They Jock, T-Double D recounts his rise from the bottom to the top (where he remains, despite his departure from the majors). Fellow Dunk Ryder Ice “Billion” Berg jumps on board to tell his own story halfway through, describing how his life changed since he hooked up with Trick on street anthem F*ck The Other Side. Complete with a catchy hook by Murk Camp and a “classic Dirty South” beat by Mizzle Boy, Why They Jock will doubtless become the #1 choice of every dunk in Florida (and in the streets nationwide). Expect Trick Daddy’s longtime fans to breathe a sigh of relief—and the haters to throw a fit—when Finally Famous: Born a Thug, Still a Thug hits stores Sepember 15th.

Without a doubt the best Trick Daddy record that has made it into my inbox in several years.

The last couple of Trick Daddy's records have been very sub-par and disappointing. I'm glad to hear something tight like this from him. The song starts off backed by some good production and Trick flows on it very well. The guests are decent, and I'm givin this a 4 because I'm happy to hear a good song from him.

The production/hook is catchy and appealing, so even when their rhymes are dull/heard before, there is, still, something to listen to ... 2.5

Hmm I don't know what I think on this..
I'm not a huge Trick Daddy fan only really got Hooked on 'Lets Go' I'm deff feelin' the beat on here but I prefer trick's rappin' when his flow has huge zaps of energy in it. I know he's still good en relaxed but just my veiw of things. Good song though.. |

It's cool. Can't give it a banger but I can hear it in the streets so I give it. I want to say what's good to all the homies in the booth. It been a while but I'm back.
