There’s arguably no singer who works harder or adores his fans more than Trey Songz. This past summer saw the self-proclaimed “Prince of V.A.” release several personal renditions of hit singles through his “Music Monday” promotional series (via Twitter) as well as dropping numerous mixtapes to hold fans over as his third album suffered several pushbacks. With Ready‘s September 1st release just around the corner (finally!), the superstar crooner has unleashed the remix to his popular single, I Need a Girl. Helmed by famed production duo Stargate, this version of the record features a guest verse from eccentric rapper/singer Teyana Taylor (of Google Me fame), as well as a few bars from one of hip hop’s cameo kings, Fabolous (who just released his fifth album, Loso’s Way). Expect the combo of Taylor’s cooed vocals and Trey and Loso’s time-tested musical chemistry to leave listeners more amped than ever before for the release of Songz’ latest LP—after waiting this long, I think it’s safe to say they’re more than Ready.

When we featured the original version in March (man, that was a long time ago), I was sold on this single. Although it has not climbed the charts like I thought it would, it has provided Trey a solid foundation for this next step in his career.
This remix does nothing to detract from the original version's catchiness and I am glad to hear Taylor is alive and well.

I like this remix. Thought Fab was a good fit with this production and Teyana sounded good. This definitely could get some spins on my iPod. 3.5

u can NEVER lose with trey and fab...i still can't believe "in ya phone" didn't get proper single treatment, but anyways this is well put together...throw a rising female singer on too, and you have a solid remix. ready for september 1st...YUUUUPPPPPP!!!!!

fabolous is one of the most underrated rappers in the game. he rips everything is a part of. he's unquestionably in the top of 10 rappers in the game but doesnt make most people's list. smh. Any ways teyana taylor is my fav lady in the game look wise behind rihanna, so this was a pleasant remix for me. But i never really have generic her voice is. At least from this song, her voice doesnt sound unique from r n b singers at all. But anyways nice song

I'm loving this! I've always liked Trey and always will by the way its looking from the past of his music, I agree with Charm over her voice, It just sounds a bit low for a woman voice over a RnB song..

Fab did to this track what he did to The-Dream's Rockin' That Thang; setting the flow and rhythm for the rest of the song, his contribution may seem insignificant, but it definitely compliments the song in a positive way. Teyana Taylor provides some nice harmonies to trey songz, but nothing that really changed the dynamics of the song.
This has been my fav rnb track for the past couple months and this remix has given it a bit of a refresher. My one gripe is that took away Trey's "Sitting Patient, Steady Waiting, for the day when I can face it", which really vibe'd with me (can't really explain why), with Teyana Taylor's cleverly placed "Boy I'm waiting, Got me Patient, and today is the day that you face it". Some little touches where I would consider this a 'smart' remix. Like. |

I wasn't a big fan of the original, but I like this Remix a lot better ... Loso does average to what he can do lyrically but flow-wise was on point with melody/rhythm of the Stargate's country-sounding hella! catchy production. Teyena impresses with writing but her vocals left askin for more ... but overall its definitely more enjoyable than Original for me ... BANGER!!!

hmmm this is a solid remix, loso did decent on his guess feature (hes made for this kind of songs) and Taylor is a nice addition to this.

I have completely gotten over the original & was really hoping for a different beat, though it didnt happen.
Loso's addition was nice (though predictable). Teyana's vocals were average (though the actually lyrics were good). Ill rate this as if I hadnt gotten over the original. |

Fab actually did better than I thought he would. Guess I should have known that because him and Trey do have great chemistry and always put out hits when they're together. Teyana did a nice job, wish I could here more from her though.
