Where most guys would tiptoe around the issue, Trey Songz takes the direct route—on this Brand New buzz single, the singer sidles up to a female he’s had his eye on all night and, after asking what she’s drinking (Patron, of course), he tells it to her straight: “Girl, I wanna leave with you so we can get it on.” Whether it’s Songz’ smooth pickup lines (“Tonight I’m gonna be your husband.”) or the fact that the shorty’s been sipping hard liquor for the last several hours, this approach seems to work like a charm (your mileage, however, may vary). Boasting dancefloor-packing synths and an unexpectedly catchy, guitar-driven bridge courtesy of Kenneth “Soundz” Coby, Brand New is the perfect record to prepare listeners for the early March release of Ready‘s official lead single (the album itself is due out this summer), and the exclusive interview that we will feature shortly thereafter.

Now Trey to me is usually ALWAYS on point. but i don't really like this song. I do hope "READY" sells better than his last CD. i dont think it went Gold did it?

The beat is catchy and Trey Songz didnt stand out but he didnt sound horrible either. The hook is better than a lot of r&b hooks out there. Guitar makes it sound a little better. In rotation pretty hot!

I know Richard already said this above, but I feel obligated to remind our wonderful readers that BRAND NEW is only a "Yo, I am back with new material" type of buzz record. If it catches on - which is could - great. Its purpose is to lead into the real single, which we will feature in the coming weeks.
@that1kid13 - Trey's last album went GOLD when you factor in worldwide and digital sales.

To me the production steals the show - real catchy .... but u cant go wrong with Soundz .... hook is good .... 3 all in all...
If this is a buzz single then Watever happened to the 'In Ya Phone' joint ??? dat one was real hot .... should have went wit a video .... |

Average song for Trey, but why did he have to copy off of his long time collaboration partner Drake for the name. I know it isn't the same song in any way but still. Little suspicious if you ask me.

Not bad, pretty decent hook and production. Not really one of his best - not really feeling the filters on his voice.
I like trey songz, and his mixtapes are pretty good, but he still has a long way to go before I would consider him a really good r&b artist. He's certainly not on the level of Ne-yo or John Legend (as I remember someone making a comparison before). |

this is good...not great from trigga trey but the beat kicks hard and he's smooth as always. ready will be a gold/maybe platinum album if he picks the right single to start (aka not "in ya phone" apparently

This is pretty cool... The production does definitely shine on this, the hook is pretty cool too. Nothin special vocally here, but it was solid. I loved the guitar during the bridge, but I wasn't feelin the vocals over it. Regardless, it is a hot track that is sort of catchy.

I'm really feelin this beat.. but as far as the content of the song it doesn't sound too catchy.. almost like a typical trey song. I think he could've came harder.. and theirs already 2 many songs titled brand newrite now.. but the beat go hard and u already kno trey brings it tho hands down

Soundz came correct on the beat, however I'm not digging this Trey Songz. What happened to that soulful sound from I Gotta Make It??? Its similar to his last album, with the whole club vibe. Not too impressive, decent club joint.
