Following the success of his free online album, Mack of the Year, Philly rapper Trel Mack continues to cover hip-hop’s many bases. As Three 6 Mafia‘s Juicy J explained to DJBooth in a recent interview, a female fan base is often the most important, because they make up most of the radio audience and essentially determine whether a single is a hit or miss. Taking that advice into consideration, Mack’s fan base will no doubt be pleased with his new single, Stormy Weather, which finds the young rapper ready to commit to a serious relationship. Style points are rewarded courtesy of Rico Levant‘s hookwork and C.E.O. Productions’ board work, both of which enhance Stormy Weather‘s potential hit power (should it be promoted nationwide), and will possibly lead to Trel being a mack in every town across the country.
The beat is decent. Trel Mack doesn't really stand out to me on this track. The chorus sounds like it is just missing something. The chorus had potential to make the song better, but it doesn't sound like it did that. It did the opposite.
The beat sounds like something from an 70s tv show intro and for some reason (I just can't pinpoint it) Trel Mack's flow just did not match the beat to create a unique effect. Even with the hook they're trying to go a little throwback, but it just sounds weak (mostly imparted by the singer). I can see how this track had potential, but the end product is just lacking a little something special.
Messy! Sounds like they were undecided in what they wanted to accomplish with this. I can't dig it... If I could pick it apart and create three different songs with the different elements of this one...then I'd dig all three. But their mashin too many vibes together...
i like it i guess but the chorus caught me off guard...like hes got a deep voice and @*#$! and then all u hear is a guy with a high pitch voice...thats weird to me i gotta say but i like it
