Trek Life - Due West (Has-Lo Remix)
Artist: Trek Life
Producer: Has-Lo
Album: Wouldn't Change Nothing
Label: Mello Music Group
Rap may be (as Chuck D once famously remarked) “CNN for black people,” but that description far from exhausts its potential; on new single Due West, presented in a remixed form courtesy of Has-Lo, Cali repper Trek Life demonstrates that it can also be the History Channel, dropping some serious knowledge regarding black migration patterns in and around the Los Angeles area. Digging this edu-taining remix? You can find the original version of this cut and much more on Trek’s Wouldn’t Change Nothing, out now via Mello Music Group.

Has-Lo banged this one the funk out - gritty, raw, matches the tone of the lyrics and topic better than the original for myself. There's that edge on it like things aren't all good, i like that - especially with lines like "fame is a bigger trap than the one time" to "put arsenic in the water and killed many". Big up to Trek & Has, shout to DJ Booth for showin love!

While other rappers are talking about their dope raps, Trek is teaching about the history and migration of a whole people.
