TreeHouseClub - MediCAL
Artist: TreeHouseClub
Producer: Jayson Knocks
Album: Red-Eye Flights EP
Label: FCC
Though I don’t partake in the herb myself (It just freaks me out, man), I do look forward to the day when American citizens, whatever their physical condition, are free to smoke whatever they damn well please. Till then, though, weed-lovers living in Cali and 13 other states will simply have to keep faking migraines in order to obtain some of that coveted MediCAL kush. The first Booth feature from the TreeHouseClub finds emcees DNEZ, Chris Focus and El Prez delivering a political statement rolled up (pun intended) in a classic smoking jam. Over Jayson Knocks’ sparse, synth-driven boardwork, the trio rhapsodize about the therapeutic and recreational value of their favorite plant. Craving more THC-drenched tracks from the THC? Grab a copy of their Red-Eye Flights EP, released 4/20 and available at the group’s Bandcamp page.

Regardless of your opinion on cannabis, this track is straight FIRE! Hook is more than catchy, and the production is hot, Jayson Knocks really does his thing on this one.
Not something that I will remember years from now, but it shows the level of talent and the ability to spit that the treehouseclub has. |

I'm loving all these weed songs since 420. This isn't your traditional lethargic smoking song. With some dope production from Jayson Knocks, this one could be played in the clubs as well as the smokers lounge. Never heard Treehouseclub before but i like the vibe of this. Although the hook does resemble "snap your fingers" at times, I'll let it slide since they are from Cali.

Ayiyi could have done without the public service announcement at the beginning. Thankfully the song does pick up from there. Just wasn't necessary to the track and it should have went straight to the production and would have been better off.
And the production is definitely the winner on this track to me. It could have been toned down a bit, it almost overtakes the vocals at some points but maybe that was the idea? Nothing special about the vocals to me, just the same stuff I have heard 100+ times. Really could have been a decent song with the strong production but sadly it falls short. If I was a rapper, I wouldn't want them to legalize it. Think about it, the second they do that, there won't be a reason to rap about it anymore. It won't be going against the law which makes it nothing special. Its like when a person drinks before they are 21. Once you turn 21, it loses some of its specialness. I think Game said something along those lines in the interview on here too, and he's right. |

As with phantastic, im tired of weed tracks, jump on this track with a different subject matter and its 5, for now though its 3.5 rounding up.

damn wow haha this would be a weed track.
with that said nice beat haha real electronic beat beat but its not in m mind suited for this kind of subject maybe if it was mellowed out but this is real hard type beat and doesnt sit with me at all. no denying this beat is hard but the flows comes even as hard aswell this is definitly made for the pre-smoke which after wards you throw in a kid cudi track for the weed activities shall i say. haha nice track, really interesting but just missing out on that 4 star over all 3.5 |

I like the concept. Weed is weed, I light up every once in a while, but I'm not in love with it enough to dedicate an entire track to it.
The hook was pretty boring, average and just not really too creative. "I'm high, you high," with a line like that please allow me to tap the skip button on my ipod. This was a good track, but the hook really let me down. I was expecting something more exciting than the outcome that this track provided me. On a lighter note, all three verses were very consistent. Second verse really had me boppin' my head and the third verse was just as sick, but damn, that hook was just awful. Not trying to sound like a dick, but I don't intend on playing this again anytime soon. |

Brought me back to my high school days of cutting school and baking out the bathroom in the basement. Out of the three verses I thought the delivery of the second verse fitted the song the best. What's good with the sampling on the booth lately? It works on this track as does the hook but I wish it was less enthusiastic. This track would have been nice to been on the booth on 4/19 just in time for 4/20. Nonetheless, it's good one.

What is up with the beeping sound...
I keep thinking it's coming out of a Fisher-Price toy. And that ain't good. I know the song is about weed, and it's all good, but I just feel like there could've been much more with the beat. I wasn't feeling this one, man. |

Lets get straight to the point...the subject and lyrics are WACK!! I mean this track has no style like Freddie Gibbs' track feautured yesterday did. It probably took them 15 minutes to make this track. I'm gunna say it's just an OK track because the beat by Jayson Knocks sure does knock (pun intended)...but seriously the beat is fire!

Don't really mind the theme of the song as long as its put together nicely. This is ok, but I dont think I'd get around to playing it in my iPod very often to be honest...

People are surprised at all the weed songs... hello: it was 4/20 this week. Its just like artists making scary songs the week of Halloween. 4/20 is practically a holiday in hip hop haha.
The minimalistic production is real catchy and the hook is cool, but I found the verses inconsistent. Prez was the highlight for me. |

Would I rate a love song low cause i don't have a gf? NO
Would i rate a struggle song low because i'm not going through hard times? NO SO STOP BEING L7 SQUARES AND RATE THE SONGS FOR THE MUSIC AND NOT HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT SMOKING! P.S. Maybe you should smoke a joint or two, to help change your point of view lol |

I don't mind the minimalistic production, but on the verses it's not catchy enough to avoid repetition issues and the synth is cheap.
I liked the effect of the minimal touches on the chorus though. For what it is, it's entertaining. |

There is nothing too impressive with this track, but it has its own purpose and everyone keeps up the momentum to an acceptable level. Okay at very best.

Pretty dope Synth effect, and the mix is above average for an independent group. Bars are rotation worthy as well. The chorus leaves room for improvement.
