The 143rd entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of TreaZon, the Cleveland native who recently brought us the world premiere of reader-approved cut Midnight Train. On his brand new, exclusive Uptown Anthem freestyle, the 45 Records emcee flows over a Kay Gee-produced instrumental originally featured on Naughty By Nature‘s track of the same name. TreaZon is currently hard at work on his latest street album, Lights Out – keep it locked for the latest release details!
Readers can download a copy of the newly-released In the Booth (Volume 3), featuring exclusive freestyles 61 through 90, here! Volumes one and two are available for download here and here.

I know how Z feels about the 'anthem' title, but I'm startin to see what he means. The song is hot, but it raises expectations before you hit the play button. I stil liked this beat and the flow was quick and right.

CB is right, but I'll let TreaZ off the hook since he borrowed this beat from Kay Gee of the world famous Naughty by Nature crew (circa 1991!).
It takes a certain amount of non-2009 swag (yes, thats the new way to say it) to rap over this beat and I think TreaZ does a pretty good job. The only knock here is the energy level that doesn't match Treach or Vin Rock. However, all-in-all, another worthy addition to our series! |

On a track like this flow is everything, and Traezon dodges and weaves in and out of a pretty classic beat nicely. Lyrics won't destroy anyone, but this is nothing to take lightly. Recognize.
Didn't shout me out personally, but I'll tack on an extra star for name-dropping my pet project RefinedHype.com. I will not apologize for my bias. |

@Omar 7 - I am sorry you feel that way, Omar. I suggest telling your friends from Texas, Florida, and all the other hip hop heavy states in the south to do a better job of sending us good music. Its not a matter of regional bias so much as its a matter of quality of music.

Can't say I'm a BIG fan of artists choosing CLASSIC cuts to freestyle over for the series. Sets up for disappoint every time.
