A little-known biographical fact about Fashawn is that, when his mother was in the delivery room, the Grizzly City rhymesayer-to-be refused to leave till the doctor waved a c-note in front of the birth canal—at which point he jumped out, grabbed that hundred, snipped his own umbilical cord, and walked out the door to begin a grind that continues to this day. In other words, he’s a Born Go Getta. On the latest world premiere off Treacherous Records’ forthcoming compilation, the aforementioned reader fave comes together with three equally enterprising regionmates to celebrate their natural knack for the hustle. Komplex delivers a beat befitting a West Coast paper-stacking anthem, pairing a slow-rolling percussion rhythm with grimy keyboard voices as Fash, Horse Shoe G.A.N.G. member Kenny Siegel and El Prez rhyme about their glittering riches and their unstoppable drive to accumulate more. Not to be outdone by his mic-rocking colleagues, singer Kobe provides a chorus drenched in steely determination. Fans can find this street banger, the previously-featured Back in the Days and much more on Treacherous Records’ DJBooth-hosted The Mint Room LP, scheduled to hit our mixtape page July 10, for streaming and download. (A separate version of the project will also be available for purchase on iTunes.)
