TRÉ Williams, the soulful artist who lent his voice to such spiritual stories as The Lox’s I95 and Nas’s Let There Be Light, has long been regarded as just a hook singer. Williams, however, recently signed with Nas’s Ill Will Records, and is slated to release his solo EP, The Depth of My Soul, later this year. On his new single, I See You Coming, Williams hooks up with Nas once again, and together they discuss the plots of conspirators who are envious of their success. Over an ominously up-tempo beat provided by producer Bangout, phone conversations and cellular chirps evoke the same uneasy feeling as The Firm’s Phone Tap; the difference, though, is that Esco and his new signee see their enemies coming.

Considering these two hooked up on the greatest hip hop song in the past 5 years I love it. I hold them to a pretty high standard though. For anyone that hasn't heard Let There Be Light by NaS ft. Tre Williams, yall need to check it out. It was on Hip Hop Is Dead. Anyway this song is mediocre until NaS gets on and tears it up. Bangin!

This song is kinda cool right here. I'll be lookin for more from Tre. I think this song is ok to start, but I feel like It 'll grow on me. Nas is My Dog no question.

I thought this was TRE from Nas's Let There Be Light! I really dug his vocals on that track. This isn't that track (WHICH I AGREE [The Greatest] was the best hip hop song in a LONG time that should have been a single with a video to be looked at as an classic by the rest of the industry. This is a'ight though. I don't like the production at all. Bangout's production is what killed the track for me.

This song is good but I'm with jeffsteeze, the singing isn't very well-groomed...it's in rotation to me

Patty, your picture on your profile is super hot.
LOL...I just thought I'd add that. I was going to respond to your comment on my song "Proper Introduction" when you said "Gotta agree with WOW!! this is booooring! it will be real hip hop but it's not for me...at least, not for an Italian girl I guess", but then I saw your pic and decided you were too hot for me to write a reprimand to. LOL [I'm wildin' out right now...lol] |

Great collaboration, and great to see TRE finally coming with some of his own material that could cater to the masses. I too do not LOVE Bangout's production, but that isn't the focus here.

Gotta agree: “Let there be light” is one of the hottest tracks I still listen today (I never understand the singles policy: the best tracks are not chosen! That’s why I hear the whole albums to tell by myself). Unfortunately, that’s not the case here. Too much noise, too little music.

Its a real decent song.
I don't see anything special in this one. When I saw Tre and Nas gettin together for this track I was expecting something like let there be light again. I guess my expectations were too high. |
