Bay Area legend Too $hort has released his 17th album, Get Off The Stage; his last on Jive Records. On the new LP he teams up with fellow Bay Area legend E-40 for a reworked version of I Love The Bay’s last track, This My One. The song features Short Dawg & 40 Water describing the Hyphy lifestyle; a movement which has gained national attention since 40 flipped Tell Me When To Go. E-40’s son, Droop-E, joins in to stunt like his daddy and provides a simplistic percussion beat that will have you ghost riding the whip from Vallejo to San Jose. Get Off The Stage is available now.
Honestly, I was never a fan of Too Short, but I like his swagger and always give him respect for being one of the most influential artists in hip-hop. He has soooo many albums and promised to retire on like the 8th album, but I guess that didn't quite happen. He is different, but in this day and age; I think this can't keep up with the other Fire out there...Sorry...
This isn't my type of Hip Hop. But then again, I respect what I can bump out of my car. I live in Chicago, but I can get away with it as long as the windows are rolled UP.
Too Short basicly invented the indpendent artist game, and even though his verse does leave something to be desired, this is definitely thizz-face worthy. YAY AREA!!!
Too $hort is to the Bay Area the same way Jay-Z is to NY. This track has beening banging for awhile now and no matter what he puts out the Yay loves it. Once $hort offcially retires, E-40 will be right there to carry on the hyphy movement. Hyphy is so the Bay and the Bay only, don't expect it to get anywhere farther than that.
