Thee Tom Hardy - Always in Command
Artist: Thee Tom Hardy
Producer: 9th Wonder
Album: The Hardy Boy Mystery Mixtape: Secret of Thee Green Magic
Label: Unsigned
As I mentioned in my A3C write-up, Thee Tom Hardy’s live performance left me wanting some more good music from the man. As luck would have it, I didn’t have to wait long. Always in Command is the latest leak to emerge off his forthcoming mixtape, and the Freestyle Series alum doesn’t disappoint with creativities like: “unless she’s part giraffe, your girl is gonna be probably gagging/ two betty boops and me on the mattress, it’s a body sandwich.” When 9th Wonder is on the boards the production always fits the artist’s style, and this time the legendary N.C. producer samples 10CC’s Rubber Bullets on the hook (although I’m wondering whether the style is complimenting the original ‘70s protest theme, or to the intro of stoner cartoon Superjail!). However inspiration may have come, Hardy’s latest makes another great addition to his arsenal for future performances. If you enjoyed this verbal onslaught, be sure to check out Hardy’s new exclusive interview, The Hardy Boy Mystery Mixtape: Secret of Thee Green Magic when it drops October 27, via your boys at the DJBooth.

Its records like "Always in Command" that made us gravitate toward Tom's work, with or without the 9th co-sign and production accompaniment. He has a real command (pun intended) of the record and shows he can both spit and entertain without compromising one over the other.
The new mixtape drops next Wednesday (hopefully there won't be any more delays) and this is a great sample offering of the larger pie. |

Damn, this is enticing! 9th Wonder put the heat on this! Hardy spits hard on this, reminds me a bit of Big Boi. Very creative and very hot!

Eh it's ok. His last single "One for the Money" was much better.

I'm diggin these cats quirky rhyme flow and top notch production from 9th wonder - makes me ecstatic for the next generation of hip-hop - Not since Native Tongues heyday have I heard great eccentric tunes! I want to hear the whole mixtape!

I can see how not everyone will be feeling this, but for me Tom's flow is just absolutely pistachios on this one. Add in another expertly understated beat from 9th and you've got a record I've had on heavy rotation for the last day.

Beginning tripped me out with the backround vocals but it quickly grew on me as the song continued. nothing negative just didn't show anything 5 star worthy.
