Booth readers, Tito Lopez. Tito Lopez, Booth readers. Since economies of scale make it unfeasible for an up-and-comer to sit down for an introductory tête-à-tête with each prospective fan, the Mississippi repper elects to invite heads to a collective Conversation With Tito on his latest buzz record and first feature. While the artist kicks off the record with the brash announcement, “I [don’t] give a damn about the beat,” Andre Laudz does a bang-up job behind the boards, layering stark organ chords over slow-rolling percussion as Lopez schools us on his gutter background, his high esteem for his skills and his contempt for the competition. Though the bold and arrogant spitter hardly bends over backwards to get in listeners’ good graces, it’s hard not to like a guy who can work an entire grocery store aisle into a few short bars: “Now your backhanded compliments is condiments—ketchup (catch up) / I mustard up the strength to go forward and put my best up / So mayo next best opponent, whoever’s next up / relish in the moment ‘cause they gon’ probably be the next cut.” Interest piqued? In addition to keeping it locked for all the latest news and tunes, fans can click here to peep a video of Lopez’ recent recording session with West Coast legend Dr. Dre

The hype beginning to surround Tito is slightly out of control, but whenever Dr. Dre co-signs your work that tends to happen (see Kendrick Lamar as the best case example of this evidence.) While Tito didn't instantly turn me into a believer, he does impress here. Nice beginning, if you ask me.

I like the production a lot more than his flow on this one.

This is OK, but the beat sounds like a lot of noise at some times. Decent flow by Tito Lopez, but it's not enough to make me tune in again. It's worth a first listen though.
