In order to get the public properly excited about the release of his upcoming third solo album, beatmaster Timbaland will be releasing a steady stream of singles, starting with last week’s listener approved Morning After Dark and continuing with the official release of Say Something, a head-nodding track featuring teen heartthrob turned legit emcee Drake. First and foremost, Timbo’s never been a strong rapper, even if he does kind of sound like Bun B here, but what surprised me a little bit on Say Something was the beat. Sure it’s catchy, but this is pretty simple stuff for the usually rhythmically complex production work he built his reputation on. It’s good, but it lacks that “wow” factor. On the other hand I have to give it up to Drake, who carries the track with a subtle (slightly auto-tuned) chorus and a hell of a verse. Stay tuned for even more instant hit material off Timbaland’s upcoming Shock Value 2, set to drop November 23.

I really like this track. Its a departure from Timbo's usual uptemp banger, but Drake does well with the hook and kills his verse. Timbaland wasnt that bad either. Shock Value II, November 23.

Just like that1kid13, I haven't enjoyed any of these leaks. All the songs sound like "Way I Are" remakes. As a big fan of Shock Value, I'm not impressed here.

I can't say I love this, but I don't not like it either. Timbo's decent work is still better than most producers. As for his rapping, I've always kinda liked it (weird, I know).

Wow you guys are rating this pretty low. Here's my take on it. I love Timbo because he always brings hot beats and fresh music. You never know what you're gonna get but you know it's gonna be dope (The Khaled song featured tonight is a counterexample, same formula every time). A lot of music is getting formulaic and boring lately so I really love it when a guy like Timbo drops fresh, creative stuff (Kid Cudi is another example of creative dope music). Drake's verse was pretty tight as was his verse. In all honesty I've never heard him drop a bad verse/hook. He is so consistent. Timbo's verse was pretty good and the beat was sick! Easy banger and I can't wait for the album.

Pretty OK, and Drake contributed mostly to that. The beat was great and i gotta give Timbaland props for that. I'd play this.

Drake on the hook average. Beat average. What's Bun B doin on tha track? haha timbaland does really sound like him at parts. Again, I don't understand why so many love Drake, his verse on money to blow is banging! and best I ever had is banging! but on this... lyrics aight, sounds just ok, nothings really keeping my attention.

In rotation..I mean yea its not the greatest thing out. However I really can't say I have many tracks from timbaland that aren't at least decent..just my take..I agree with Phantom though..this isn't up to par with shock value.

WOW, this beat is so intricate. This is why Timb is my FAVORITE beatmaker of all time. Its like he continues to evolve and evolve the game. Most people can't hear all that's going on in a Timb beat, but its so much more than your average production.
DRAKE ripped this beat and I hate to say it, even though Timbaland isn't a true MC, he still holds it down on his own beats. Really, Really, Really Feelin this! |

I have to say, I've listened to this track a grip of times now and it definitely grows on you. It's not classic Timbo, but it's pretty damn enjoyable anyone.
Can I get some back from someone: Timabaland definitely sounds like Bun B on his verse, right? Not nearly as good of a flow as Bun, but the voice is almost dead on. Am I crazy here? |

Damn, Drizzy is my favorite Rapper with Wale on his ass, but this beat and production is 100% annoying. I couldn't even survive to Drake's verse. Come'on Timb.

Im starting to agree with Scott Storch, Timbaland owes all his current success to Danja. Every beat ive heard from Timbo in the last couple of months has been dull & generic. He needs Danja's assistance & fast...
Yes Nathan, I can hear Bun B in Timbaland's voice on this track |

Timbaland felt like a low budget Bun B here. Drake did alright. I really love the beat though its real easy to just bump and ride. Good stuff, good stuff.

@that1kid13 - "ive heard at least 5 songs from Shock Value II and i dont like ANYTHING ive heard at ALL. i dont know. i guess Timb *refused to change* up his sound or somethin but im not diggin it. 1.5"
*fixed* Timbaland needs to go back to the drawing board. His talent is above this mediocre song. The man sold thousands of copies of "Shock Value" here in India, on the strength of "Way I Are" alone. That won't be happening this time though. The sung-part/hook is annoying, but Drake manages to muscles the rapped verses enough to rescue this song from the scrap heap. Okay at very best. |

At the beginning I though this was a hot production. It is fresh for sure, it's rare Timbaland comes out with generic beats, but as the song goes on it bores me! I love Drake's hook, though. It's ok, too boring

I dont know timbaland just isn't bringing what he used to. I havent really liked any of the shock value 2 previews. Drake was decent on the verse but the hook was boring. this track was just ok for me.

Been jamming this one for about four days now and it crazy hot. This is exactly what I wanted from Timbo. He was beginning to get 2familiar. This one will be blowing up the radio in heavy rotation.

Seems way to simple for Timbaland. I was expecting alot more from Shock Value 2, but its so far disappointing.
The song itself isn't that bad. Catchy beat, one that gets stuck in your head. Drake did aight on his part, even Tim did ok. Just disappointing. |

Lol don't worry Z, I'm a fan of hiz rappin' too, even hiz 2 verse stuff in the old dayz (90's by that I mean)) when we were like wtf is Timbaland :p If the production changed entirely, this would bang, because their verses are wack
