Timbaland - Round Da Way Tim
Artist: Timbaland
Producer: Timbaland
Album: #TImbalandThursdays (Series)
Label: Mosley/Blackground/Interscope
Remember when Timbaland said he was done with rap? Guess it wasn’t done with him. Last week, the heavyweight producer made his triumphant return with the inaugural entry in his Timbaland Thursdays series, the Missy Elliot-assisted Take Ur Clothes Off. Now, on follow-up Round the Way Tim, he picks up the mic to spit a few bars of his very own. Over an eccentrically fresh, beatbox-infused instrumental, he introduces listeners to the man he considers “the coolest n*gga in the galaxy.” The name of this dashing individual? You guessed it: Timbo. As expected, the verses come packed with everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the veteran producer, from his car of choice (he prefers Porsches), to what he’s got in his wallet (two AmEx Black cards and a new Visa White), to how he likes his women (uh… bowlegged). Self-indulgent? Yeah, kinda. Dope? That, my friends, is for you to decide. If you like what you’re hearing, be sure to check back next week, same bat time, same bat channel, for the next Timbaland Thursdays entry.

Until Timbo drops some unreleased records with Jay-Z or Justin Timberlake, the two artists with whom he has seen the most success (aside from Missy or Aliyah), I cannot get excited. Not to mention, I cannot recall the last meaningful record he produced, which featured his rapping as the spotlight draw, that really impressed me. You?

Timbo did it again! He's so raw and versatile. I'm a fan. Hearing his songs inspires and encourages me to produce tracks on a higher level of creativity in my own unique way. Push the envelope continually.

While this is nothing special, and rather boring after 30 seconds, I will say Timbaland's weekly music series is better than Snoops, Swizz, and whoever else is jumping on the trend.
The beat here is pretty dope, but is worthless unless he gets an A list artist on it and tweaks it a little bit. I am very interested to hear what he has in store for 2011, including his SV3 album whom I've heard through the grapevine that he is recruiting some pretty interesting collabos. |

@Z, don't forget Nelly Furtado. I agree Timbo needs a big JT track to kickstart things again. The beat is tite but as a rapper Timbo is only mediocre for me

When you listen to a Timbo song you pay attention to two things in this order 1) The beat then 2) Timbo. His beats are always top notch and thats what makes his songs successful. But Timbo can rap! Everything he says is easily forgettable. He needs a emcee over his beats or he is jusr wasting time. I could easily hear Lupe on this.
3 stars for the beat. |

I feel like Timbaland thinks he can release just ok music for free and everyone will automatically love it. Sorry Timbo, but Kanye set the bar a lot higher than that. Put out a crazy instruemental for everyone to rap on, put out some of that unreleased Jay-Z I know you have sitting on your hard drive, then you'll be a game changed. But keep releasing music like this and people will just continue to shrug their shoulders.

This guy needs to go back to making beats. He can barely seem to make a nice beat anymore.

Apparently to Timbaland anything can qualify as a beat.

Great Strip club jam. This track will cause the shoe show to be more exaggerated for participants and patrons.
