Even though T.I. has (sadly) spent more time behind bars than he has promoting his new album, No Mercy has managed to sell more than 500,000 physical copies. Thus, instead of waiting until the emcee is released from prison in September, his team at Atlantic Records has decided to unleash the album’s most promising record. Written by Skylar Grey (see I Need A Doctor), Castle Walls combines heavy hi-hat snare and synthesizers from in vogue musical maestro Alex da Kid with a popppy, yet strong hook from Mrs. Christina Aguilera. Lyrically, T.I. evokes plenty of emotion, explaining how he has felt attacked and discussing everything from his beefs and his come up, to his legacy as an artist and a man. For those who choose to compare Walls to Eminem’s Love the Way You Lie, not so fast. The only true similarity between the records (besides the work of Alex and Grey) is their eventual standing at the top of the charts. So, will T.I.’s attempt at a crossover hit go as well as Em’s? That, DJBooth readers, if for you to decide.

I hope the follow statement doesn't in any way shape or form ruin my street cred (okay, here goes...): "Castle Walls" was my favorite selection for a single. Phewwww (exhales), that feels much better. I you disagree, I won't judge you either.

Not a surprise that this is the next single, after Em's sucess with Love the Way You Lie, it only makes sense to release this. It's also just a great song too. Alex's production was top notch, Christina's hook is golden and Tip spit some serious emotion in his verses. One of the only few songs on the album when he wasn't bragging about his sex game.
Sidebar: I heard that All She Wrote replaced this as the next single. Guess we'll see. |

Great track, Alex da Kid is the king at making emotional-sounding beats. He really knows how to make singles. I've been bumping this song since Nov./Dec. and they finally released the single. This will get a whole lot of radio play for sure. T.I. should also consider putting out That's All She Wrote.

This is without a doubt the best chance T.I. has at a hit off of No Mercy. It has loads of pop appeal yet it doesn't turn its back on the rap community either. T.I. handles all of his verses well and Christina does exactly what she was suppose to on the hook.
When I saw the track listing for the album I could just tell this was going to be his shot at a big single (just like looking at the Recovery track listing). Hopefully this will help TIP get back into the spotlight a bit. Best part of this is apparently this song was originally for Diddy but he gave it to TIP for some reason. |

It's ok. Christinas hook is nice, production is pretty basic and T.I disappoints after his recent features on the B.o.B tape

EXCELLENT decision for the next single. My favourite of the album itself.
Spent more time behind bars than promoting his bars. =P |

One of my favorite songs of No Mercy. T.I. is so good when he is just being real. If all of his songs were like this, he would be one of the top rappers

"Get Back Up" is still my fav track off No Mercy. Too bad it wasn't as big as id hoped it would be. But this one has so much promise. In the infamous words of Kanye: RADIO NEEDS THIS!!

It was only a matter of time before this was released as a single. Some of the most honest verses by Tip to date and Christina was a great choice for the hook... Not going to be as big as Love The Way You Lie but certainly a solid crossover hit

Normally I recoil from the "I'm a rich and famous superstar, my life's so hard" thing, but in T.I.'s case, that might have never been more real.
Hopefully this will smash and prove that even a radio song can have some serious and darker elements. |

It can be a very dangerous thing when Hip hop artists attempt to cross over and mix styles. It all depends on the delivery. Will it please the hardcore fans? The hardcore Hip hop heads? The general public? Lot to take into account when makin this kind of record....Nevertheless Id have to say this one delivers. Heartfelt no less bc of some real talk by T.I. Sprinkle in Miss Aguilara's vocals and you have a hit record in my opinion. Nice Track. I dig it.

I've been waiting for this to come to the booth forever! this song is easily the very best on the album. Alex da Kis's produstion was amazing and T.I.'s verses were top notch. X-Tina's vocal gave me the chills on this one.

This is one of the few stand out tracks on TIP's new album. Combining mainstream style on this track works very well and the lyrics show his heartfelt emotion. Banger!

One of the few tracks that I actually enjoyed off of "No Mercy". If there's any hit potential on the album, this is it. Tip handles his verses with all the swagger in the world and Ms. Aguilera handles her hook duties wonderfully. Great listen.
