Fair warning to all college seniors: there is no need to run the other way. DJBooth newcomer Thesis43 and his stage name have absolutely nothing to do with a glorified, long-ass paper. Instead, the Michigan native is all about up-tempo, left of center hip-hop jams, which he displays for listeners on his new single, 2013. This ode to the upcoming year, features the efforts of Thesis43 (duh), The Grouch, 4nzix and Matt Rusin over an entrancing, pulse pounding beat courtesy of Digerati. This genre bending cut also contains some electronic influences and a touch of rock/alternative, most evident on an enticing, yet off-kilter hook. 2013 is the lead single off of Thesis’ The JG43 EP, which will be curing hangovers with a New Years Day release.

At first I thought I was listening to the Blade soundtrack or the intro to Mortal Combat, but once the opening, techo soaked beat is no longer the focus the record is enjoyable.

I like that this track is slightly old school and its instrumental is simple yet catchy. The delivery from all artists featured on this track were unique and dope. Great track! banga

Haha damn I felt the same way @DJ Z. The verses on this were hot and the production was very uptempo and energetic. All around solid.

The beat reminds me of some old school tracks. Good flow from Thesis43, but I'm not feeling the vocals on chorus.

This is OK. I think the lyrics by all the artists were on-point...some of the flows were a bit dated, but the beat and chorus aren't my cup of tea. Makes me turn it off early.

The start is terrible, the verses are okay, and the chorus isn't very good. This sounds like a song you'd find in Need For Speed or something. It's okay.
