Theo Martins - Kirby's Airwalk
Artist: Theo Martins
Producer: $port
Album: DJBooth.net Presents: You Can't Do That On Television EP
Label: Unsigned
Apart from the title, what does Kirby’s Airwalk, the new leak from Veni, Vedi, Vici author Theo Martins, have to do with Kirby the video game? Sadly, nothing. There’s nary a King Dedede reference to be found. But that didn’t stop me from reminiscing about my early ‘90s Gameboy days…I know, I know, less nostalgia and more about the track. I’m on it. On Kirby’s Airwalk producer $port crafts a hypnotic, possibly accordion based beat that Martins uses to flex his usual lyrical muscles with lines like, “Just because I’m an outcast, they treat me like Outkast, but my Aquemiminstic attitude got me movin fast.” Sorry other rappers, but you’re going to have to come with it if you want to top a flow like this. Oh, and extra props for the hilarious Danity Kane reference. Well played Theo, well played. For more pop culture influenced hip-hop keep it locked to DJBooth for the release of $port and Martin’s collabo EP You Can’t Do That on Television, dropping April 22 on DJBooth.net.

If you just listen for the dope production work from $port, you might miss all the crazy lines Theo spits in this record. The second time I listened I realized I miss a few (love the Bleek rhyme) myself.
Just a sampling from what Theo will offer up the people on his upcoming EP. Mark those calenders, people. |

One of the better tracks I've heard this week. I'm keeping a lookout for the dude in the near future. Tight beat, tight flow; what more can you ask for?

"First Danity Kane break up, and ev everyday I wake up..."
Martins had me at the first line. Quality rhymes, quality rhymes, it's hard to find fault with this one. |

This is an ill track. Anybody who dislikes this track should re-listen to it 'til they understand the concept of what he spits.

Great rhymes, great beat. What else needs to be said?
And Nathan, I think plenty of rappers have paraphrased that "Heart of the City" opening line-but Theo's came the most out of left field. |

Strong quality lines with slick wordplay, but beat, though not bad, is just there making noise. Ain't feeling it.

All of this song is good. Especially the disses being thrown out here. The beats straight and again the lines are sick. But this is my personal rating and it's just not my style, not the quality I want.

I love Martins. His rhyming does not compare to any other rappers. " I aint scared to dream" -The melody was a little weak which made this song a little under par
