Perhaps inspired by Christian Rich, the identical twins who contributed boardwork and hook vocals to his last solo feature, Theo Martins has decided to throw his hat into the singly-named-duo ring. For a forthcoming “mini-project,” the Rhode Island emcee’s joined forces with producer $port to form Chris Connery. Booth readers love motivational jams and musical tributes to hip-hop legends, and this newly-leaked cut is both; Goodwill Hunting (RZA 94) finds Theo delivering nostalgically uplifting meditations on his artistic grind as his production partner pays homage to the man who crafted the Wu-Tang Clan‘s signature sound. $port’s lush instrumental, inspired by the great RZA‘s early work and sampled from ‘70s soul group The Fuzz’ I Love You for All Seasons, succeeds both as a tribute and as a complement to Theo’s dreamy inspirational lyricism. Short, sweet, and sure to leave lovers of mellow, feel-good music with a smile on their face, this track will undoubtedly boost anticipation for Chris Connery’s You Can’t Do That on Television, which has yet to receive a solid release date.

Theo has long been a favorite indie artist of mine. His grind is insane and his skills are obvious. He is assisted nicely by some DOPE production muscle courtesy of $port. I am anxious to hear more of their collabo album.

Theo been on my Radar for a while now. I liked the production (smooth, easy to vibe to) and Theo kept up a strong flow over the short course of the song. Solid collaboration. 3.5

You know what the best part of my day is? When I visit DJBooth.net and think that maybe, just maybe, this is the day that there's a Theo Martins track on the site.

Sorry, obscure Goodwill Hunting reference. In other words, definitely feelin this, though could have used a lot more. How do you like them apples!!!
