Need a little pick-me-up? Well, have no fear, because the only rapper with stock in boat shoes is here to take you on a musical journey to Cloud 9 (with a stopover in seventh heaven, of course). This newly-released single (featured on DJBooth.net before any other online music magazine) finds Rhode Island’s Theo touting his stratospheric skills in two braggadocio-laced verses peppered with pop-reference asides. Centered around staccato arpeggios and chopped strings, Christian Rich‘s boardwork rides a rhythm that’s not quite as smooth as the title and lyrical theme might lead you to expect; there is a little turbulence here, but the beatsmith’s blend of prickly and cumulonimbus-fluffy synth textures brings out the peaks and valleys of Theo’s flow, and the jumpy, slightly off-kilter rhythm sounds just right behind his dreamy, lightly-Autotuned hook and bridge vocals. Do You Know Theo? has yet to receive a solid release date, but fan anticipation is sure to soar to new heights as this skyfaring single gains momentum in the Booth and beyond.

I think the production was the highlight here. It had a good vibe. I liked the hook, actaully. I didn't mind the auto-tune. Theo was decent, but this was a beat that he should have ripped up. Rotation, though.

I feel like this production would have been KILLED by a few other artists. I'm wit that1kid13, he was too soft on the verses. It was aight, but this beat is screaming to be murdered. The production and vocals on the hook gets a 4, but Theo gets a 1, so I'll just rate it OK.

Sometimes simple is better though bro.
I liked the production. The song sounded low in volume though. Like the kicks were loud, but everything else sounded quiet. It was decent though. Nothing super dope. I'm a little narcoleptic on this one too. |

This is some pharrell type shit! 4am music rite here. Theo has some heat in his arsonal. I'm not insane bout this one, but I like it.

i'm feelin the production and just overall song. even the hook was straight , the only problem i have with this is that the vocals were kinda low, made it seem like beat was drowining the lyrics. 3.5 stars

@Charm - I noticed (after streaming the record) that the mix doesn't sound as sharp as when I played the MP3 earlier on Wednesday. Lets see if we can get that corrected for our listeners.
Good stuff from Theo, one of my favorite up-n-coming new artists.

I do agree that his vocals should be turned up a lil' & the voice in the backround down a lil' to make it easier to hear what he's sayin'...
I feel you @Z Theo has mad skills but he could have came better/harder on dis ... i mean dont be fooled by this, if this is your first time checking this guy then ya'll better check out his other joints ... He can spit fo sho! |

Appreciate the crisp production. Once again, quality song but nothing to throw it above the rest. Listening very closely Theo sounded a little bit like Freeway who has never been my favorite. In rotation though, good effort and they seem talented.
