Thee Tom Hardy - I'm Grinnin
Artist: Thee Tom Hardy
Producer: 9th Wonder
Album: The Hardy Boy Mystery Mixtape: Secret of thee Green Magic
Label: Unsigned
On his last mixtape leak, Fresh & Fly, Thee Tom Hardy turned things upside-down by allowing beatsmiths-turned rappers 9th Wonder and Khrysis to provide two of three verses while Vitamin D handled production duties. Judging by the lukewarm reviews the cut received, readers will be pleased to hear that I’m Grinnin finds Hardy’s musical mentor back in the producer’s seat, crafting a characteristically sunny, soul-sampled instrumental as the North Carolina native (and official freestyle series contributor) serves up all the left-of-center rhymes fans could ask for. Here, the emcee recounts the criticisms he faced as an ambitious youngster, and how he ultimately proved the doubters wrong; he even addresses a comparison that’s been on commenters’ lips even since he made his Booth debut: “They said I rap like Outkast, fact or false? I take it like a dis’ and a compliment, then I hit the mic and they start to shakin’ like Parkinson’s.” Listeners left grinning by this laid-back jam are sure to find more to smile about on The Hardy Boy Mystery Mixtape: Secret of thee Green Magic, set to hit the ‘net later this spring.

9th wonder is in the booth like everyday either he is telling everyone of his artist to come to the booth or he is working and grinding' extremely hard...are heard most of these lines to be honest...that hook came out of my ass whole...beat is just a loop, snare, and a kick

9th went a few years without any production credits of Booth-featured songs and now he has about 10 in the last three weeks. Either the vacation is over or he is looking to pay off some debt (just kidding).
Hardy will undoubtedly be clumped into the "Oh, he's white - he thinks he is Eminem" category, but I urge you to dispel that thought immediately. He doesn't come across as a young Marshall, but rather an emcee who is trying is hardest to carve out his own lane. This should make Tom grin - its his best Booth-feature to date. |

I liked the prodction a lot. Tom sounded good but I want to hear more of him first before I make any judgements.

Couldn't agree with DJ Z much more on this one - this is def one of Tom Hardy's top tracks imo. That beat and flow are just made to be together. Homie is def doing his thing!

Na, this dude isn't Eminem, he reminds me of A. Moss with his lyrics and weird-cool flow and on point 90's references. I'm on the fence wit the sample used here, but 9th Wonder is most def. on my list of top producers in the game right now.

I think it's literally impossible not to at least enjoy a 9th Wonder beat. That dude's soul style just always makes you feel good, and it's unanimous, this is one of Hardy's best flows to date. I'll definitely take more like this.

I like Hardy on this, hes straight to the point. Its not a track that is going to hit though. I'm at least 89.9% sure he has more to offer, and i'll be one of the first waiting for it.

Everything 9th Wonder touches is rotation worthy. Still on the fence about Hardy.

Gripping lyricism from start to finish, and instrumental that supplement the rhyme skills... all good stuff. Rotation fa sho!
