Artists always complain about how hard it is to grab the attention of a music listening populace inundated with options, but I don’t see what’s so difficult. All you have to do is be from the same hometown as a platinum selling artist like Drake, get him your music and have him continually mention how great you are in interviews. What’s so hard about that? The Weeknd may have made that unlikely scenario look easy but he’s made the music to back up the hype, including standout cut The Zone. In typical Weekend fashion producers Doc McKinney and Illangelo craft a hazy beat that pours like codeine syrup through the headphones, giving The Weeknd ample opportunity to croon his trademark lyrics in atmospheric fashion while aforementioned co-signer Drake comes through on the rap tip, paying tribute to all the artists who practice their craft on the pole. So now it’s up to you Booth Nation – has this much anticipated collaboration lived up to the hype? A tad on the long side (records that exceed 5 minutes, without bleeding into the next record as a while, usually loose my attention), but nothing but quality. The Weeknd has a lane and he drives as straight as can be down it. Drake or no Drake, this is excellent.

Agree with DJ Z, but in my personal opinion Drake's verse is stellar. My favorite verse of his. Ever. For purely personal reasons. I just really relate to it. Seems like it's about a girl I know.

Great song and Drake is a perfect match. I'm glad he was also just rapping and didn't try to sing. That would of been a little weird. The weeknd has crafted his own sound but I would like to see him musically have more range. Soon this going to get boring and predictable but for now in his early career, it's still enjoyable.

If you want straight r&b than this is pretty much for you. Drakes verses pretty much fall r&b or pop rap.

I love the song...but honestly Drake kind of ruins the track for me. To me he sounds monotone and dry, almost like he is bored or something. I liked him better when he was doing his mixtapes.

I've never liked this dude...i think his voice is terrible, and he can only sing like 4 notes...super limited, lyrics ain't that great, sorry, dont see what the big deal is...

I'm a big fan of the beat and Drizzy was solid...although waiting 5 mins to get to his verse is waaaay too long. IMO, he should have had another verse at the beginning. 3.5 but rounding down because there was too much random singing of nothingness

I agree with Hoamboy, this is a cool new sound but will eventually get predictable and old. It will be interesting to see how he grows as an artist meanwhile nice efforts thus far!
