With a highly-anticipated presidential election later in the year (yes, people are looking forward to more than just The Carter III), more and more music will start to become political. Those who follow hip-hop closely, however, know that taking a stand is not uncommon for a group such as The Roots. On April 29, the seven-man band plans to spread a message about how our world is Rising Down. On the title track, Black Thought’s verses attract a few followers to the movement with appearances by evocative MC/actor Mos Def, and hardcore street soldiers Styles P and Dice Raw (formerly of the group). If a movement is strong enough, anyone will join; but will it be heard by enough people to make a difference?

This beat is really slick! I like the way Mos Def rocks on this beat! He is way better than people give him credit for! The chorus is HARD! Hot right here. I am feelin this with Stylz P straight Killin it. This is a CERTIFIED BANGER! Nice versatile group of rappers on this one.
whoa whoa whoa!...this is FIRE...as soon as the beat opened i couldnt stop vibin' to this...i think mos def might have ripped this the best...i will be listening to this song for a long time to come
i think Mos Def is the most disappointing rapper of all time. After Black on Both Sides, i guess he thought he was better at singing and acting.
this song could be alot better. 2.5 stars
The Roots are a "you like them or you don't" kind of act. If you have listened to their previous work, this falls right in line. If The Roots are new to your eardrums, this might not be your thing. Regardless, its important that artists use their place in pop culture to speak their mind; The Roots have and always will do that.
This shit is def a banger and all the cats on here that dont like this joint crazy.... sorry no danceing to this one fall back real hiphop daddy...DDDDDBlock
track is bangin, each verse is fire in my opinion. really feelin this, Def starts it off, Black Thought spittin a news report in that second verse and then Styles P kills it at the end. straight fire right here.
