Following in the footsteps of fellow California acts such as Dilated Peoples, Planet Asia, and Blu, Oakland trio The Mighty Underdogs will be Droppin’ Science Fiction on their debut LP this fall. As exciting as their up-and-coming hip-hop lifestyle can be, group members Gift of Gab, Lateef the Truth Speaker, and Headnodic will never forget what they’ve left behind them; in fact, the memories often hit them so hard, that they simply Want You Back. Offering the most versatile contribution to the track is Headnodic, who, in addition to performing the hook, also creates a smooth, relaxing beat that is perfect for an all-weather cruise through the streets of your nearest big city. Listeners’ ears should be ready for a deep impact once the Mighty Underdogs get to Droppin’ Science Fiction on October 14.
It's a good-quality song and they are real talents! It's only that it's not my type, I wouldn't never listen to this on my mp3 player and it would bore me even on the radio. But it's well done!
first time i'm hearing of these guys and I wanna thank DjBooth for this great site that has opened my eyes and my heart to all these new artists and music...Im in a real mellow mood today and i'm really really feeling this..the beat is so smooth i could just listen to the insrumentals alone...this @*#$! is bringing me back in time for real
I cant beleive these guys from Oakland. I wouldnt expect this type of music from the Bay but this is smooth!! Perfectly producted and im going to put this on my iPod. This is a classic in my book
I think Patty brings up a very interesting point in her feedback. Is something you'd listen to in your MP3 player a good basis for the quality of a song? There are many artists who sound the best on open speakers, live, and loud. Other music is catered better toward headphones or a car stereo. Things about it... (these guys are great, but we here at the Booth has known that).
I can dig this here. Very ol' skool feel and ain't nothing wrong wit dat. Love the smooth Jazzy sound and the song is pretty catchy too which doesn't hurt.
