Despite the fact that The-Dream‘s debut album, Love/Hate, has yet to reach gold certification, the big bosses at Def Jam haven’t given up on the project. Following the album’s first three hit records, Shawty Is A 10, Falsetto, and I Luv Your Girl, the fourth single, Fast Car, will look to speed toward the top of the charts; thanks to a combination of Dream’s catchy chorus and producer-collaborator Tricky Stewart‘s electric guitar-ready production. As on Shawty and I Luv, a rapper drops in for the remix; in this case, D-Block‘s Sheek Louch puts a street twist on the song’s un-street theme. Love/Hate has been in stores for over four months now – will Fast Car finally get it to gold?
When was Luv Your Girl ever an official single? I haven't heard much of that song at all. This remix is pretty hot with a good tweaked beat, and Sheek Louch has a sick verse
Yeaa... well where you been hiding? They played it on the radio here like freakin all the time.. thats y i got tired of it so quick lol.
But this song is ok.. it doesnt really sound like The Dream thats in his past singles i guess because he doesnt use tha Ayy Ayyy Ayyy in the background he uses Ohhhoohh Ohh ohhh lol
This is the third best song of the album. Literally, I was bumping this yesterday. It has a Prince feel to it. Not much of a remix; just a verse from Sheek Louch. It didn't hit Gold because the record label didn't select the appropriate singles; this type of mismatch selectivity happens all the time.
i still sceptic bout the dream, but this is a okay not single potential though, sheek lays a okay verse but i would have loved to heard jadakiss instead of sheek, the world needs jada back
I really like the love/hate album, but I think this is a really mediocre song. It's kinda neat that it has a sort of purple rain thing going for it, but it just comes off a tad boring and the lyrics are too contrived. You really have to be a true rnb music lover to appreciate his solo work, and that's why I'm afraid he's not having the success that I'd like to see. Most of his other writing credits are spot on hit makers, even his features on big tracks are excellent (ie. touch my body). I'm still blown away that he hasn't been certified gold, I would've thought 'i luv your girl' was a sure bet for that.
My favorite song on the album! I didn’t like any of his singles (that much), but this one is very good, alongside “Nikki” and “She needs my love”, which are linked by the end, and that’s why this song breaks down so skillfully… If these were the singles, it’d be a smart move, cuz when one ends, it makes you wish for another (continuation). Sheek Louch grew on me with his last album and I wish he had one more verse by the bridge. Anyway, remix or not, HOT song! Been listening to this since his CD dropped.
This has a cool feel to it. I am actually listening to The Dream album in the car MP3 now. Sheek is also in the MP3 all day everyday. This is a cool colabo and it is good for radio for sure!
WOW! THE-DREAM IS GOOD..I LIKE EVERY SONG HE CAME OUT WIT..BUT THIS HAS A LITTLE MICHAEL JACKSON FEEL TO IT DAT MAKES U WANT 2 GET UP AND DANCE..DAMN DATS ALL I GOT 2 SAY BOUT THE-DREAM! HE IS REALLY BECOMIN ONE OF MY FAVORITES AFTER EVERY SONG I LISTEN 2...THE BREAK-DOWN AT THE END ADDS 2 THE SONG 2...BUT I NEVER LISTEN 2 A SHEEK LOUCH SONG B4 BUT HE GAVE THIS SONG A SWING...THIS HERE IS A BANGER 4-SHO....''I NEED A FAST-CAR..CANDY-COATED RED, DRIVE ME ALL NIGHT AND PARK IT IN MY BED..I NEED A FAST-CAR..I WANNA C U ZOOM, RACE TRACK WAITIN INMY BEDROOM''..THE-DREAM IS REALLY SPITTIN SOME FIRE ON THIS TRACK...HE MAKIN ME WANNA START SAYIN ''FAST-CAR''
yo what are they thinking seriously? don't get me wrong i like this song but this shouldn't be a single...but i heard that KANYE is jumpin on she needs my love as the next single...if they give it another go which they should...that would be a smash hit if YE did that
This is definitely Prince-esque along with Purple Kisses but they didn't need Sheek on this one. Dream's album is pretty solid and has a different vibe. "Ditch that n!--@" and "Luv songs" are other sleepers.
I am by far not a Dream fan but my man Louch is on here thats y i am even commenting on this track but Louch did his thing on this and as far as playin this song again it will have to be Louch verse alone...DDDDBlock
When I first heard The Dream I thought "this guy is a HUGH Prince fan". Not only this track, Prince's influence is clear to hear in a few others. I'm still feeling the Dream tho.
since when was i luv ur girl a single? neva heard dat on the radio
but anyways, i love this song. loved it when i heard it on the cd, and i still love it. its a hit.
Nikki was probably my fav. joint of his album, i agree with DJ Jadey...his album should hit gold...good beats, catchy hooks (i mean this guy wrote "umbrella" didn't he?)...sexually explicit lyrics haha...he's got a lot going for him.
it's kinda funny to hear sheek louch on this though
Dream has been pretty consistent with putting out decent songs...nothing really stands out but i still haven't checked out his entire album...this song is alright...nothing special though.
i dnt think i luv ur girl was a single. i think its jus one of dem songs radio stations like to play regrdless if its a single or not. i been likin dis song. n yes u can tell he a prince fan, and smoke i think u got ur artists mixed up. (not michael jackson)...but i dnt c dis gettin ,much play as a single down here. he should jus stick wit i luv ur girl...
The Dream has been growing on me, lately. This reminds me of Lil Red Corvette and I'm a huge Prince fan. That being said, I can see me downloading this off of itunes ( still don't dig him enough to get the album).
Purple kisses shoulda been a single not this.. i lyk it tho just not alot. livin a lie coulda been a single as well n watz wit these remixes with just one verse added?
I couldnt stand shawty is a ten when I first heard it, then it grew on me and so did everything else Dream put out........this is a good look...and yeah Sheek shoulda had a another verse
I am so annoyed that The Dream did not receive enough marketing and promotion of the album to sell welL!!!!!
It is stupid cos this guy is the future; his lyrics, beats, and his whole creativity is brilliant. I got the album Love/Hate: it is in my opnion one of the best of 2007 along with alica keys - as i am. He needed more promotion epecially in the UK; that is why he didn't sell enough; too much talent no to promote this guy!
Dream you the bOMb!!!!
This guy's obsession with Prince is sickening! The song was trash, Sheek Louch managed to make it a tad bit more tolerable. I can see why he hasn't gone gold yet, if this guy makes a sophomore album I'll be surprised.
On a positive note, I like the beat but then again if my grandmother sang a song to this same beat I'd probably feel the same way.
By the way, why are we still counting album sales? That is obviously an outdated way to judge the success of a persons music. The internet killed the Compact Disc and the Television. Platinum is nearly impossible these days.
Not my favourite song on his Album but he definitely does his thing on this track. I think The-Dream needs to make sure that this isn't his first and last album cause the man did his thing on Falsetto and overall dropped a good love makin' album...I'll play it once in a while and see how the people react..Its in rotation ya heard.
