The DEY - I Need You (Remix)
Artist: The DEY
Producer: YEYO and BUYER [for The Art of Sound Group]
Album: The Remixes
Label: Epic
Since The DEY have been absent from the Booth for quite a while, a recap is probably in order—back in June of ‘08, when we featured potential single And I Miss You, the threesome’s debut LP was scheduled to drop before the summer’s end. Unfortunately, summer’s long gone, and fans stateside are still waiting—¡que lástima! The news isn’t all bad, though; Divine, Elan, and Yeyo are currently hard at work on a remix project, and we are now proud to bring readers the online premiere of a new, revamped version of The DEY Has Come lead single I Need You. In a reversal of the usual remix formula, the original cut’s verses and hook are left untouched, while The Jam’s radio-ready production is traded for a quirky, synth-driven beat by YEYO and BUYER. Whether you consider the production overhaul an improvement or not (I’m leaning toward ‘yes’), you have to admire the creativity that went into this new, refreshingly different take on the original cut.

i think i prefer the original.
the beat seems kinda generic, but im glad they actually CHANGED SOME VERSED for the remix instead of just adding a guest verse to the song and CALLING it a remix. i respect that. |

The production is hot and the hook sounds dope too! the male artist has some good flow and I like the female artists's vocals. In rotation

This has a different type beat to it which is decent. It is very commercial overall, but I guess that's the demographic they are going after anyway, so It will probably do its numbers. Its somewhat catchy, but it's just missing something (maybe a lil wayne appearance?)

I have swayed back n forth on whether or not I liked the original or this remix better. I came to the conclusion that this remix album might help spark more interest in the group, thus eventually leading to their release here in the States. (Fingers crossed - they have so much talent as a threesome).
Shouts to Yeyo. ** Anyone interested in our new member labels, check out the ABOUT US section** |

This brings the true meaning to the word “remix”!
But what happened to their album?! I thought it was already released…?! |

Man, they were buzzing and popping hard around this time last year. I don't know what happened to them. I really liked that "Give You the World" joint. This is okay. It's note the greatest song in my opinion. It's decent though. I'll give it rotation. I'd rather hear them over some J.R Rotem production.

Big change up with this remix, where the original was far better. The original had such a good vibe to it (one of the better 'uplifting' songs in '08). This remix has a pretty unique beat to it; shown in the intro of this track. They definitely fizzled off a bit last year, hopefully something different will generate some interest for them again.

Yeah, I'm with Mike on this one. This time last year they were dropping bangers. "Get the feeling" was such an awesome song and Timbo did work with that beat.
I am still waiting for them to drop their album here in the states. |

I agree wit Mak...ThaDon. The production is very original and I'll give them mad props for that. Other than that nothin else impressed me too much. The hook is corny, and the vocals are OK but not good enough to grab your attention. The rap verse is alright, but kinda boring.

I liked the original more, but this is still a very solid song.
@ Blaze - I understand why you think its missing something, though i dont want to hear another Weezy guest feature, the lad needs to put a limit on how many guest features he does a month cause he's over saturating the market at the moment. Peace |
