After a series of pushbacks spanning almost two years, The Alchemist finally released his second studio album, Chemical Warfare, yesterday, July 7.  Though the LP features a who’s-who of hip-hop (everybody from Em, Snoop, Jada and Loso to KRS, Kool G Rap, Lady of Rage, and Maxwell makes an appearance), two of the biggest names in the bunch can be found on this unreleased track. Though Alc was none too pleased when I Know Your Name surfaced on the net in an unfinished form, he simply took the unauthorized leak as motivation to polish the track and release it himself—thus, what we have here is the official, finished version. Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy‘s characteristically inspiring rhymes won’t fail to impress his group’s sizable fanbase, but the biggest draw here is Lil Wayne‘s Auto-Tuned, barely-understandable hook, which sounds surprisingly solid over Alc’s smooth piano loops.  Should I Know Your Name have made Chemical Warfare‘s tracklist?  I’ll let the readers have the final say.  Regardless, be sure to check-in this Thursday, when our own Nathan S. will give his take on the album.

Wayne puzzled me here, his verse doesn't even seem like it was made for this song. The piano laced proction was fire though, and I liked Alchemist the most here.

?! I can't believe this didn't make the album! It's a great song all around, starting from the beat, the music is AMAZING! Alc should be proud of himself! The beat alone could have made the album! :s Why didn't it make the cut?!?

I've been tellin everyone that Travis is a an above average rapper, and he proved to be deserving of an Alchemist beat: dope lyrics and flow so proper!

Wayne simply has the damn right to use the autotune if he creates such great combination with the beat and ironically expresses even more soul and emotion!

I'm gon always love how the beat goes from 0:51 to picking up the bass and kicking it again... thus classic!

completely agree with fredrico.
you would think this would have made the album with wayne on the track along with the underrated mccoy. really like the beat. laid back and chill.

The production, which is the meat of the track, is great. I like the breaks wit the samples in it. I think Weezy's part is perfectly awkward, in that it sounds a lil wierd but works for me over the production at the same time. Travy always impresses me wit some of his uplifting flows and his underappreciated lyricism.

The production is the real winner here. Travis doesn't do it for me and Weezy was wasted. Remix this @*#$! with some other collaborators and you'll have a nice candidate for the re-release of the album, haha.

@1_O-TYME_1 - Patience is a virtue! Hopefully, we'll be able to offer up reviews both albums very soon.

This is good enough to have made the album. The guest features only could have made the difference. Alc is a beast behind the boards.

I think I'm finally tired of Wayne Z. In the mean time his hook is good. Travis is ill, he needs to drop something solo. I'm not crazy about the beat here, but its ok.

This just sounds off, the beat isn't bad but Travis's lyrics are forgetable and Wayne just sounds weird. I don't know why he's even talked about anymore with a few (if any) expectaions, Wayne hasn't been going hard as he use to do. He was good around '05-'08, now just compelety overrated in music. Travis isn't a horrible lyrists but never intrests me either. The Alchemist's beat is really the only thing intresting in the song but not enough to really make the song listenable.

This isn't that hard.. from the Lil Wayne verse to The Alchemist just didn't flow right together but Travis on the other hand had the better flow with the beat..!!
