1982 - The Darkest Cloud
Featuring: Chace Infinite
Producer: Statik Selektah
Album: 1982
Label: Showoff/St. Records
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that I’m going to use a new track from Boston representers Statik Selektah and Termanology to talk ish about my beloved Celtics. I assure you I’ll be doing no such thing (Rondo for MVP), and will instead stick entirely to the music (beat L.A.). In all seriousness, Statik and Term’s new cut The Darkest Cloud is some seriously dope music. On the production side Statik sticks to his soul sample template, although here he embeds his usually brighter beats with an appropriately dark sonic overtone, while on the mic fellow Showoff Term explores the pain that has often haunted our brightest musical talents, sentiments the chronically underrated Chace Infinite (of Self-Scientific) echoes in a rewind-worthy guest verse. I know I’m biased, but I expect nothing but praise to rain down from the Booth on this one. Once again, it looks like Statik and Term just can’t lose…much like a certain NBA team’s starting five. For more from the dynamic duo be sure to cop their upcoming album 1982, due to drop this summer.

If you are one of those Booth readers who does nothing but comment on track features saying "Hip hop is dead, this is whack. I want real hip hop," then "The Darkest Cloud" is for you. It contains all the necessary elements of a solidly-rated, pure hip hop record (dope beat, rewind-worthy rhymes and no fluff). Press play.

Liking the sample and the oldschool feel to the beat. Rapping was steady paced and went well with the beat. Go Celtics!

One of my favorite's from Statik and Term in a minute, and that's really saying something. For whatever reason this is one of those tracks that I find myself playing again, and again, and again. Extra shout out to Chace Infinite, who needs to be on 200% more tracks.
F**k yeah @JKL11293. Go Celts! Here come the Kobe killers. |

I like the girl vocals... The intro is kind of cute. They got an old school type feel that makes you want to keep listening, but you don't become an instant fan. I'd have to hear more to really respect them as a duo.

On the surface it seems like a solid hip hop track. I dont feel the artists here put everything they had behind this track. I gdont see myself playing this again. However the lyrics on this were repeat worthy and very quotable.
