Everyone goes on a journey of self-discovery at some point in their lives, but few do it on the mic; New Jersey emcee Talonted aims to become one of those few. Bringing listeners along on a trip through his psyche, the emcee’s goal is find out if he Belong(s) Here. Producer Notty Beatz provides a background of rigid drum patterns and high-pitched synths that give Talonted a platform from which to tell his story. From the hood to law school, the emcee struggles with his identity: should he pursue his rap dreams, or, should he take the “straight path” that he knows will provide wealth, but is not where his passions lie? This confusing duality lies at the heart of all young people’s lives, but we, as listeners, can let Tal know that he’s made the right choice by purchasing his album, “7”, when it drops (though the release date is yet to be announced).
Lyrically he's on point, i think alot of people can relate to this. I'm not really feeling the beat though, but everything else makes this track in rotation.
Man, from listening to past NJ artists, I feel they always bring it but just don't get a lot of buzz. I really dig the vibe of Notty Beatz production on this. I feel it could have took more presence on the track as a whole. Talonted is lyrically talented...but he could have brought more energy. "Y'all watch BET an wanna crack a bear, I read between the lines, and wanna crack a tear". That was one of the hottest and most introspective lines of the track. If this song was just tweaked with more passion and energy, it would be more influential.
I agree with Ruttan_man10, he has a flexible flow, it's not monotonous. But the song is really mediocre...ok the beat, but that background sound/noise is too annoying! And the song itself repetitive. He'll pull out something better
from the first 5 seconds of the beat to the first 5 seconds of the first verse about "when i'm trying to chil and the cops come...i back talk crazy, other dudes run" Thats so me man...Lovin this joint...where can i get an mp3 of this?
dis track is so damn FRESH!!..haha..very unique,also refreshin'..there is only so much damn lil wayne we're gonna be able to eat before we throw it all up..so something like dis here,is quite refreshin'
