“Conscious” rappers are well aware of the ongoing problems with mainstream hip-hop and the steady decline in both quality and sales. Talib Kweli is certainly no exception to that rule, and in his new single, he gives the world Part 1 of the Hostile Gospel. In the song, Kweli pleads for a deliverance from our problems, going so far as to speculate an apocalypse in the next decade. Although Talib traditionally delivers well on the mic, what makes Hostile Gospel stand out is Just Blaze‘s street heavy production. Thanks to a sample from the Space hit Deliverance, the song might get a few requests from the networks’ “outreach” programs. Hostile Gospel is the fourth single to be released from Eardrum, in stores now.
Listening to this track makes me think of EMINEM and when he is coming back to the game. Talib kind of reminds me of EMINEM's flow on this track for some reason; but it is a good song with Real things to say. It's good to hear Talib in a time when everyone else is sounding so similar!
Talib Kweli's album is his strongest effort yet, every track displays his versatility and ability to deliver a truth, the exact way hip-hop should be. He covers many aspects of the hip-hop community in this record, all the way to DJs ditching vinyl for Serato. The beat is very interesting, changing sounds multiple sounds along with the gospel background vocals. I can guarantee you that this will not get any airplay on the radio, and I like it that way. Fans like WOW!!! love the "Krispy's," "Crank Dats," and "Wipe Me Downs." Songs like these go right over their heads.
The beat is sick while still gospel-like. Talib doesn’t need to prove himself but if he needed, this would be a fine example of his lyricism and awesome deliver.
WOW, DJ Blaze is spot on, this flow/delivery sounds EXACTLY like eminem, carbon-copy. I've been dissappointed with some of Talib's other stuff but I think this is quality. Piano/gospel beat works and Talib always has something to say.
FredRico is right Wow! There is no hating inside the booth. This is a hate-free online community. If you ever feel like a comment might get you hated, simply don't leave it :-)
hate hate hate!
this track is real good, but imma hate on the album, disappointed. the middle of it is just slow, doesn't seem to go in any direction, and it's too friggin long. if by the middle of the album it starts to get iffy, why the hell imma hang around to hear the rest of it?? good albums i think are short and w/a purpose or direction
feel free to hate on this comment
WOW!!!, so your saying you don't like real hip hop. You probaly listen to that snap your fingurs crap. Anyways Talib Kweli is the best rapper in the game right now. I can't think of anyone thats better than him. Oh yeah and Eardrum had to be one of the best albums in 07'.
WOW!!!! Talib Kweli is an american mc from Brooklyn New York. and is one of the best known and critically. if not commercially successful rappers in alternative hip hop. his first name in arabic means student or seeker and his middle name in swahili means TRUE!!! and if i were you i would change your interests in your profile

i like it. and people, if WOW!! dont like the song, aknowledge the fact that she's being truthful to you all and herself and expressing her right to her own opinion and get off her nuts about it.
Dumb, non-hip hop knowing fans will probably say something stupid like "I don't like dis kind of rap" or something. Real fans will understand the Talib came off hard on this. Um, and I don't even hear the Eminem flow on here. Not at all. This is all Talib delivery. This is the first Talib single I've dug since "Get By".
