It’s been said that “insanity” can be defined as performing the same activity over and over and expecting a different result. I never thought I could possibly be insane until this morning when I tried to play Taio Cruz’ latest single Dynamite over and over without thinking of J.J. Evans, and failed each time. In spite of my newly-discovered mental instability, I’m confident in saying that Dynamite will become a hit, even if it weren’t riding on the coattails of Taio’s international Luda-assisted smash Break Your Heart. This particular Cruz cut, though, has a slightly more robotic, relaxed feel to it, which should help get the attention of those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of hearing the UK pop star sing about breaking poor girls’ hearts. If Taio’s edgy production and Seal-like vocals don’t have you hooked by the first verse, then maybe he’ll be reeling you out of the water by the song’s end. Be sure to catch Dynamite on Taio’s upcoming album Rokstarr, previously released in the UK and due out in the U.S. June 1.

Back when we featured Taio's "Moving On" in the fall of 2007, I knew he would be a rising star sooner or later. Well, that "later" is clearly upon us. With the crossover success of his "Break Your Heart" single, "Dynamite" has a perfect setup for success. The radio and clubs should eat this up.

This is fresh, so is the "Dirty Picture (Remix)" with Fabolous, which I could have sworn was the next US single... I wasn't bought over by "Break Your Heart", but this and "Dirty Picture" have put Taio Cruz on my radar.

At the beginning of this song he sounds like will.i.am. Not as good as "Break Your Heart" and seems kinda forced, but I don't know maybe it will grow on me.

This is a very catchy electro/urban song which will have all the clubs in USA ROCKING TO IT.
This track is not as good as "Break Your Heart" but it is definitely a club banger and worthy of 4 stars. Taio seems to borrow heavily from Will.I.Am and Sean Kingston in his vocal delivery in this track, making it suitable towards an american audience. ‘Dynamite’ scores another unbelievably infectious beat coming from the Londoner. It’s no wonder he’s been starting to get known to the world music audience because of his talent. I mean, this track isn’t top calibre but it’s chart ready. Absolutely chart ready. |

That was dope! Nice breezy summer track, should be a massive hit...I think the chorus could have been more epic production wise maybe some blaring synths raging through would have sounded cool...
Taio is a talented dude, ive been listening to his stuff since 'I Just Wanna Know' back in 07....i find it interesting UK R&B artists are breaking through to the US following people like Jay Sean & Craig David...Taio has big things ahead of him. 4 stars |

Just by the sound of this track, it is so obvious that it is gonna be on the radio just about 24/7. Friendly track aimed at the party scene, this track is pretty much all that it is cracked up to be. Will it be big? Absolutely.
Taio is a very talented singer/producer. It feels as though the world just really took notice of him for the "Break Ya Heart" track with Luda. His first album was superb and Rokstarr had a couple real ear openers. This was a good track, not really my type of song, but good nonetheless. |

Taio to meet is mediocre.
He can bring fresh beats to the club rounds but is an on/off play to me. I have to be in the right mood to listen to him...this one however I think has caught me on the brighter side. The flow is bouncy and seems to have ups and downers which prove to me a hit. |

Ridiculously catchy; the chorus = extreme radio appeal. The beat is club-ready and definitely reminiscent of Seal in the vocals. Everything's summed up already. Great song for the summer!
What I love about Taio is that he produces, writes, and harmonises all his vocals himself. Been following him since '07. And I don't see many like him; don't see Drake or Mariah Carey producing their own records. US-wise, their best counterparts are probably Akon and Ne-Yo. |
