Not since 2pac released a double album from beyond the grave have we seen this much quality material come out of a man who’s out of commission. The currently incarcerated T.I. hits our pages once again with the new single Hell of a Life, an introspective cut from The King of the South that rolls over an electronically complex beat from Timbo protégé Danja. Originally set for inclusion on a re-release of Paper Trail, Grand Hustle has instead decided to release Hell of a Life as a stand-alone single; maybe because it sounds so similar to his smash Live Your Life (right down to the title and strange vocal sample on the intro). On Hell of a Life T.I. spits that he’s living life, “like he just got out of jail.” We’ll see how true that is when he becomes a free man in May of 2010 (maybe sooner with good behavior).

Remember hearing this of the A Year & A Day mixtape which he dropped like a week after he went to prison. This isn't the same beat though, but I like it much more. Nice job Danja!
Only thing is I hate the chrous, it's kinda lame and annoying. Also what is he rapping? I don't understand a word LOL. |

Isn't there a law that says you cannot make money while behind bars? Just curious. Any lawyers/Booth members commenting on this song? Solid production and a catchy chorus should help this one sells some units, but good idea not including it on the original (or any planned re-release) of Paper Trail.

So, mo city, you give a pretty annoying song a 4 star rating?
I was in that 2 star range when this song dropped a few months ago, but revisiting it now kind of changes my tune a bit. The beat is kinda tight but T.I. just doesn't impress me too much. The name of the artist will make this song bigger than it should be, but overall it's nothing incredibly special. |

I'm no pro Z, but his business is still entitled to make a profit, regardless if he can. Then he can just get a "bonus" when he's out of prison and it's as if he didn't miss a day, business-wise. don't have time to rate now, will later.

T.I. realllllly brings it, but the beat is just ok.
Z, not a lawyer yet, but there's no law against making money in jail. if anything, i'm sure he has some financial planner or someone he trusts handling his money and making sure Tiny doesn't spend it all. |

This is another anthem type track. I like this.

Danja is officially in my top 5 producers in the game right now, lovin the production on this track.
If only T.I. could of gone into the studio rapping over this beat, instead of his verses being recycled. He still sounded alright, though I think he would of came harder. I hate the hook 3.5 |

Lyrically, this song is tight. I don't like the chorus at all, and the beat is pretty weak to me. I won't listen to this again, so I can't call it a rotation joint. Just OK to me...
Yo Z, I think if he puts the proceeds from the track in his wife's name, he can probably get away with the release of this track while in jail. I'm not a lawyer, but I am pretty positive that the money can go to his estate as long as it was something made prior to his incarceration...Just look at the last Shyne album... FREE MAX B! SHYNE will be out in a few days!!!
