Though T.I.‘s first five albums showcased his more reckless and confrontational side (well hello, T.I.P.), the platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated Paper Trail found him toning things down just a bit. On the album’s very last track (also the latest single), Tip explains why he stopped acting so impulsively: the man he used to be is simply Dead and Gone. With guest vocals from Justin Timberlake (who Tip previously collaboed with on the Grammy-winning My Love) as well as the co-production of Rob Knox (whose work can be heard on Britney Spears’ newest album, Circus, as well as the upcoming Paper Trail re-release), Dead and Gone should be alive and well once it impacts the Billboard charts at the top of ’09.

This is one of the top tracks off of Paper Trail. Great production and nice slow beat. Justin Timberlakes's "ohhhh" definitely makes the hook hot and T.I's message can relate to many. This is dope right here and great fast lyrics by T.I. This is classic!!

Heeeell Naw is that T.I. in the background trying to singing lol Okay I'm late, this is my 1st time hearing this but on 1st listen, this is on point. T.I. is showing growth on this album I can appreciate dat. Justin on the hook is real good too. Overall good track from these two.

This was one of my favorite tracks on the album when I first heard it! I'm glad they are making it a single!
Let me save DJZ the time and say this about people saying "the booth be slacking". OF COURSE IF THE ALBUM DROPPED A FEW MONTHS AGO...YOU WOULD HAVE ALREADY HEARD THIS SONG. I take it that T.I's camp is JUST NOW releasing it as an official single...and that's why the booth is posting it and it's going to start receiving MAINSTREAM TOP 40 Radio Play. If you already peeped the album...DUH! Of course you heard the song months ago. C'mon! Let's catch up with how the music industry works here people. But real talk, this track was so real. Justin was the greatest selection to get on the track. I can't wait for the video. The production and everything is just inspirational to me. The bridge is a killer yo! I used to be a Justin fan but I'm not really anymore...my tastes changed but uhhh, he was okay in this one. T.I. was hot for sure though. Nice flow/rapping. It's in rotation. Plus, the beat is really good too.

This song is just powerful! T.I. and J.T. are a great combo…
The second (14) it starts off is like you were deaf and suddenly started hearing! A bunch of “new” sounds come in: all the complex percussion (it shows J.T. learned something while working with Timbaland), the strings and exquisite wind sounds serving as bass line, man, this is classy production! Amazing background melody! I love the fast flow T.I., I find very distinctive and passionate! Good to hear some good real lyrics! J.T. laid down great vocals and a remarkable bridge. PS: Come on people, how can you be “late” on something that’s just been announced as a single?! Read the “About Us” to understand how Djbooth works (believe me, it has nothing to do with “slacking”!) |

The song is hot no doubt, and it will be a huge radio record. And yes, it was just released as an official single and a video is in the can. I gotta say that I wasn't too big on this track from day one. Somthin about it, I can't quite figure it out. The lyrics are really powerful and deep on some real sh*t, but I think JT messes up the impact and power of this track. He does his thing, but it would have hit harder and been more of an epic song/message if he got someone like Nate Dogg (yes I know he's ill) or a legendary singer to lay down that chorus. Still a hot song but not my favorite from the album.

This was simply an amazing song to end an amazing album! The beat is just CRAZY and sounds like something epic from the beginning. T.I. has a serious flow on here and he just speaks the truth all throughout the album. Very, Very, Very good album! This is a CLASSIC! Justin did his thing too (as usual)! And he is funny as hell on SNL everytime they get him to come on!

Track hits hard. I won't lie either, I had a huge JT hater in me and for a while (I think he died a year or so ago), but he does EXCELLENT on this song. Think the that last part with him would've had a nice effect if it was twice in the song, perhaps once more in the beginning. And you can actually tell that T.I. is taking more times with his lyricism now. My personal favourite off the album is by far the John Legend-assisted "Slideshow". Now here's a question for everyone; when do you think we'll, if ever, see T.I.P. again?

I first heard this 2 weeks before the album leaked and played it on 700 mile road trip off and on and i never got tired of it...still aint
Didnt know it was JT tho till like a few days before the album dropped, realized i should of known tho cuz he seems to kill alot of hooks but this one gots to be his best...id say top 5 best T.I song ever recorded right here, straight up classic |

T.I & Justin on another mad track!! There may be better albums then Paper Trail this year (Theatre of The Mind, in my opinion) but it has to be the BIGGEST album of the year, by far. This is due to the success of mainly 'Whatever You Like' & 'Live Your Life'. This track might well follow in those footsteps and top the charts. Justin is great on the hook and bridge. I agree, Nate would've made this epic, wow it would've been amazing, but I don't know if he would've made this as popular on the radio... and that's what T.I is looking for.

As others of have said one of my favorite songs off of Paper Trail. This an My Life yo' Entertainment are just absolute fire. This song is already a classic for me, it has the epic beat that's beyond remember-able, epic lyrics and a chorus that was well thought out and catchy. I guess to be a success in the industry one formula is to have "TI" in your name somewhere. T.I., Timberland, JT, Ashanti (maybe not so much..), I'm sure there are more. 5/5
