T-Pain - Take Your Shirt Off
Artist: T-Pain
Producer: T-Pain
Album: RevolveR
Label: Konvict/Nappy Boy/RCA
Fresh off the shockingly auto-tune free Dope, T-Pain is back and fully robotoized with the first single off his upcoming album RevolveR, the pounding Take Your Shirt Off. A shameless attempt to see some boobies in the tradition of Nelly’s Hot in Herre, Take Your Shirt Off is a club-ready track complete with up-tempo production from the Pain himself and his usual assortment of catchy hooks and vocal flares. (Bonus points if you caught the Petey Pablo reference). Take Your Shirt Off also asks a crucial question: No, not “will this be the new official theme song for Girls Gone Wild?” But, as T-Pain himself asks, “is auto-tune really dead?” We’ll find out when RevolveR drops this winter.

“Now answer this - Is Auto-Tune really dead?” Faheem … Sighs! It’s dead for the RAPPERS, NOT YOU.
I don't hear a "lead-single" here, maybe if he remix this with .... Jay-Z lol Naw ... As a first single, this song has a different flavor (Blame it on Alcohol + Church thrown in one), it departs a little from what we used to hearing from T-Pain's lead-single but this will get any CLUB hopping with one spin and I realize that the purpose of the song is to get the club crunk, and it succeeds in that. Beat is murderous, lyrics are silly and comical plus add in a sing-along hook that will have drunk girls in the club singing off key for months to come and what you have right here is a club BANGER!!! But, still, not the kinda track I would prefer to hear from Teddy to counter-attack/defense all the hate dats going on against him or more importantly bounce back from all the respect he lost with recent Random Acts Of Fcukery. In-btw: The f*ck happened to this joint ??? T-Pain - Know Your Name (prod. by Catalyst) http://usershare.net/gowherehiphop/e46ff48by991 Now dats a HIT from the very first listen. |

Pain went back to what he's best at here, club bangers WITH the auto tune. This is undoubtedly a banger right here, it has all the elements necessary: autotune, hot club production, profanity, sexy lyrics, and a catchy hook.
I can seriously just picture this one rocking at the clubs as soon as this weekend. I love this. |

It grows on you with each listen. I'm probably Teddy's biggest fan and my only complaint with him is I wish he had a Rico Love, Sean Garrett, or Johnta Austin help write some of his songs bc the common theme within his music:
1) GREAT melodies 2) Musically always catchy 3) clumsy lyrics this song qualifies for all 3. I hope this is a promo single. btw, I agree with MrTopHat.. I'd like Teddy to infuse more songs like "Know Your Name" into his albums |

Energy from Pain! This was sick! Had me bobbin my head and I'm sure it sounds 100x better in a club. But this is what he does best.

This is the definition of a banger. Insanely catchy, rocking production and tons of energy. Can't wait to hear this at the club. This will become a Top 10 single.

I agree with Mr. Top Hat
"Now answer this - Is Auto-Tune really dead?” Faheem … Sighs! It’s dead for the RAPPERS, NOT YOU. The song is dope from the hook, beat, and just the energy of the record. This for sure will get spins in clubs. Though the lyrics are lacking, that was always a weakness from him so I excepted it. Side Note: Why is T-Pain saying that line about is "auto-tune really dead"?. Didn't he support the record when is first came out (months ago!) and performed it with Jay? What's up with you, Pain?! |

I loved "Three Rings" and this sounds like something that should have been off that album. But to me this song is a little annoying to me. Otherwise Pain sticks with what he and only he does best.

Teddy Pain is back witha new banger! Gotta love it! Why is he mad at jay? He made an effort to say that T pain gets a "pass" as far as the auto-tune is concerned. lmao!

Yea Pain! Not the typical lead single we've come to expect from him but a banger nonetheless... As 4 the whole DOA Jay thing, Jays entitled to his own opinion although i dont COMPLETELY agree with it... It feels like Hovs dissed/pissed off quite a few people lately (50 Cent, Marbury, Jim Jones, DMX, T-Pain, Buddens, etc.) Maybe they deserved it, but im jus sayin'....

Auto-tune is dead for all the T-Pain clones (thank god) but I don't see the original master going anywhere anytime soon. A big part of his success is Pain's refusal to take himself too seriously and just make really catchy, even funny club tracks. I mean come on, how could I not enjoy a cut that prominently features the word "titties" and a Petey Pablo "take your shirt off" reference? Good times.

I'm not feeling this song at all. T-Pain could have done a lot better.I don't see how this song is supposed to catch on. I don't see it being a club hit, I doubt it will be on radio much, if at all, thanks to the theme of the song itself. Just a mediocre song, you would expect more out of a singing robot.

Props 2 Pain for trying something different this go around.
Totally agree with Z, this could either catch on crazy like Buy u a Drank or nosedive like Church (which this song actually reminds me of...) It is pretty catchy, and is quite entertaining, i cant really say to much to critique it, perhaps that it isnt quite engaging to hang in there for the long run...... i dunno, 3 stars |

Yo, this is a banger. Being the sothside Tallahassee native I am, I gotta say that this will be a club hit and will get radio spins. I have a question too though. I'm a Jay-Z fan and he's a great all around business man but is it me or does other people think Jay-Z wanted autotune gone because he can't use it? I mean for a rapper his status to use autotune, it would be a damper on his career as one of the greatest, right? So would I be wrong to say, on the song Off That featuring my homeboy Drake (Shout out to Drake), all the stuff that he says is outdated isn't really outdated but he can't do it anymore because he's an older gentleman, married, and has history in his hands? It's just a simple question...
