T-Wayne is back! When frequent collaborators T-Pain and Lil Wayne cook up a song you usually know what it’s going to taste like. However, on You Know What It Is the duo gives listeners a new dish that tastes far different than their normal club bangers like Got Money. On What It Is, production team Tha Bizness creates a jazzy backdrop with baby bottom smooth strings while Pain and Wayne sweet-talk a special lady. For his part T-Pain shines with a dope hook - he assures his boo she’s got a “waist like a wasp” – and a very strong rap verse with some show stealing lines like: “I ain’t trying to butter you up/ I’m trying to f*** you in the kitchen, let me butter you up.” On the other hand Weezy has the middle and end verses on the record, but sounds lazy and doesn’t begin to touch Pain’s performance. No word yet on what project Beehive is attached to, but let’s see if the Booth is eager to eat this one up.

I'm really not feeling T-Pain's recent rap approach. His voice is just so weird. He sounds good on the hook though and Weezy was decent. Tha Bizness keeps on impressing me with his work.

Tha Bizness laid the business down behind the boards, T-Pain came to work (as a singer, not a rapper), but as Q eluded to in his write-up... Wayne mailed it in. We deserve better. And he knows it.
I am praying (not as a type this, but figuratively) that Wayne offers up better if the guys do indeed release a T-Wayne collabo album. |

I agree with you GStan about his approach. but this song is nice. The wook was wack and wayne sounds like a usual wayne feature.

god lil wayne is just annoying in this, t pain was really good though, i was feeling the other song t pain released today (I'm Seein Brakelights i think)
In rotation just cuz of t pain, lil wayne probably has the worst voice for autotune |

Everyone is tired of auto-tune, so why would Wayne follow an atrocious autotuned singing verse with obnoxiously overautotuned shoutouts. His rap was decent. T-Pain's chorus was nothing special for him (I still welcome a well crafted autotune chorus). I T-Pain's first verse. 3.5

I'd take a little less rapping from Pain and a lot less rapping from Weezy, but overall this is a guilty pleasure jam, although the lyrics are often ridiculous.
For example, Pain says, "That plaid skirt you got on lets a n**ger know you might have some class girl, so you gotta have some brain, so with all due respect you gotta pass it to Pain, got to pass it to Wayne, and if Wayne pass you on he pass you to Mack Maine." So for the record T-Pain wants a classy woman who he can basically pimp out to all his friends. Hmmm....good luck with that one Pain. |

I think you guys are giving this one way too little credit. If you have not noticed by now wayne sounds like this in a lot of songs and people love it. In all honesty i think wayne did a better job than pain. Im going to give this a high rating to bump the overall rating up to what this song deserves.

I am diggin dis joint. T-pain is always smooth. I like da jazz change, although its an anticipate move. I would like lil wayne 2 go back 2 da other way b4 he wanted to sound like "t-pain im sprung 4-eva"

T-Pain should really stick to singing (or whatever you would call the auto-tune thing he does)
But the beat and the hook are Classic material but the rest is just....eh |

There are a lot of the expected elements (Teddy and Weezy aiming their pimpalicious raps directly, auto-tune, an infectious groove) but also a few things that you wouldn't see coming - Although Wayne is the better rapper, T-Pain had a better verse. Both talk humorous pimping but Weezy fails to make his sound good.

This is... ok. But I got a feeling that it'll be seeing a lot of airplay in the near future.
And for the record, I dont think that people are tired of autotune. I think they're tired of everyone BUT T-Pain doing auto-tune. Think about it. We always groan when we hear autotune these days UNLESS it's T-Pain. |

c'mon wayne. when jigga says death of autotune, that means DEATH to autotune. the king as spoken. anyways. t-pain kills shit. i think he's better off rapping than singin even. if he were to do an album simply singin normal like on "the good life" and rappin like this. he could have a great rap album. better than more than most rappers. if wayne didnt suck on this it could be a banger

I really liked the beat by Tha Bizness on here. I do like some of T-Pain's raps, he sound really good on here with the beat, and does much better than lil wayne. Lately Weezy has just sounded lazy in his songs, and isnt going up to the high standard as a rapper he used to be at. Plus his singing sounds horrible on here. 3.5 out of 5, 4 without Weezy.

Agh makes me sick that were still pushing garbage like this through, starting at 0: 1 for the somewhat good lyrics 2 for the artist (T-Pain, drop the wayne), 3 for the beat, and 3.5 for wayne being on it i guess, but since wayne made it worse im rounding down

I saw both of them in concert, and they put on a pretty decent act. I can't really vibe with this song though. I don't find either one of them physically appealing so it's hard for me to get excited about them talking about putting someone's legs around their neck. However, I'd rather listen to a rhyme trying to get a woman than insulting a woman throughout the track, so for that, I'll say it's decent.

Beats the best part of this song, T-Pains voice sounds good when he raps without auto-tune, and he has actually good punchlines, like "lemme see what your miss butter is worth", damn? Wayne rapped, thats a plus. BUT his rhymes and metaphors...were below par. Thanks a lot Weezy -.-

T-Pain wasnt too bad considering that he was rapping. I really think Lil' Wayne brings this song down tho. I'm kind of over the Wayne auotunething at this point. It was creative and cool at times before but now its annoying and he sounds crossfaded all the time lol. The beat is why I give this 3 stars. If Wayne had brought it more this could be a big hit.

T-Pain's verse was OK but his voice isn't right for rap, chorus was and Weezy were great besides the end when he starts mumbling with his autotune voice.
