Swizz Beatz - Hot Steppa #1
Artist: Swizz Beatz
Featuring: Eve
Producer: Swizz Beatz
Album: Monster Mondays Series
Label: Monster Music Group
Remember the night before the first day of school? You had your new, perfect kicks at the foot of the bed, perfectly styled fitted, top, jeans, accessories and just for fun, you threw on that watch you spent all summer working for just to stunt on ‘em. You stare at it all lying on the bed and think to yourself, “I’mma KILL ‘EM tomorrow!” Former Ruff Ryder reps Swizz Beatz and Eve will recreate that feeling for you on Hot Steppa #1, the newest addition to Swizzy’s Monster Mondays series. I can’t lie, since her verse on Luda’s My Chick Bad remix, I been waiting for E-V-E to release some more fire, and she delivers over a Swizz beat that while it could definitely shut the clubs down, is pretty typical of the producer and was probably in his “stock beat” folder for a minute. As you hear towards the end of the song, this most likely won’t make Eve’s forthcoming album, Lip Lock, but if it’s any indication, she might re-open up this whole female MC lane that’s being currently monopolized.

Welcome back, Eve. In all the "who is the best female emcee" talk, its easy to forget all the success that Eve has had... less than a decade ago. I am encouraged by this record; hopefully its a sign of what is to come for one of Philly's best.

Well it's good to see a female rapper not named Nicki Minaj, or Lil Kim by that matter, getting some buzz again. But i'm a bit dissapointed, Eve is talented for sure but this dosen't show much. Nothing blew me away and for a song marking her return, it should have. Swizz's beat was banging and is probably my favorite beat yet from the series. Hopefully something better will come, the two do make a good pair.

The best that i've heard recently from Swizz was "Ass On the Floor" with Diddy Dirty Money. This is ok but like "HoamBoy" said this song doesn't really showcase her as an emcee all that well.

Swizz Beatz' production was the best part. Eve did good, but she's done better.

Really Swizz, really? You thought that hook was good? Eve is an incredible rapper, one of the best female MCs in the game, but Swizz ruins this.

Wow i havent heard Eve in forever.... Its great to hear from her. She was a perfect feature in this. As for Swizz Beatz.... If you look at my previous comments to his records you will see that im not a fan of Swizz Beatz being in any record, unless if he is producing it. I just cant listen to his songs cuz his voice annoys me so badly. All in all, this will be a radio hit, for sure. Im giving this a rating of 3 cuz of Eve. If she wasnt in this, it would be lower....

It's cool for what it is. I'm just glad she's back to making what she's known for-music. She doesn't sound too enthused. Hopefully that will change.

Glad to see Eve back, but this song is not mould-breaking or anything like that.

This is a very subpar, lazy track. Advice to Eve, stay away from Swizz.

I remember when Eve was the top chick in the game, then she left for terrible tv show and an ok movie career. She basically committed music career suicide. Sometimes its not always the best idea to chase the money. As for the song, not good.
