Developed by Gap Clothing and Rehab (a San Francisco-based production company), five artists across multiple genres were asked to record original material that represented the Sound of Color. Asked to write and perform a treatment for the color green, Swizz Beatz partnered with producers The Individuals, and together they created a song about driving in a drop top through the flashy streets of Miami, Florida. While Candy Green will probably remind listeners of the Swizzy-produced Candy Paint (off Bone Thugs N’ Harmony’s Strength N’ Loyalty), the two songs sound completely different. A video for the song was directed by Tom Gatsoulis and can be found at the official Sound of Color Website.
I read about this ad campaign last week and after looking at the four other musicians Gap has chosen, I was surprised to find Swizz Beatz among them. I personally don't like Swizz Beatz behind the mic, his real work is behind the sliders, but he has succeeded at the entire producer-to-rapper transition better than most.
swizzy is aff da chain when it comes to production, but i really think he shud just stik to it, wen he gets others to produce his traks and just raps.. i dont seem to like it as much
I would say it's a forced effort by swizz, if you watch the music video you can kind of get what he was going for. But compared to the other 4 songs, it's not really all that relevant to the color green and what it's supposed to symbolize.
Who are the other 4 artists, I'd like to hear how they represent the different colors. This one doesn't make any sense so far, I am curious to see what "The Gap" was going for.
pretty much agree...beat is hot and flow is not..swizzy needs to stop trying to be like the producers that can flow too (kanye) cuz it aint workin..
rating is for beat only..
hes boring and sounds the same all the time, doesn't this remind you of Cassidy's drink and my 2 step? ahhhhh Im having a hard time DJBooth with these artists sounding exactly the same as their last records, again, it's purely talentless!
I love Swizz Beatz as a producer, and when he produced Jay-Z's "Girl's Bestfriend" he was a true genius for making something new, but his lyrics here are garbage but i have to give the beat atleast two stars!
