If you were to judge Sunny Valentine solely on his stage name, you’d assume he was the Care Bears’ resident rapper. Once you take a listen to the Tyler, Texas native, however, you’ll quickly realize that there’s nothing preschool about him. First heard by many on the ‘06 Yung Joc collaboration, F**k You Pay Me, Valentine is now the flagship artist for Sony BMG‘s patch in the independent quilt, Battery Records. On the buzz record, So Fresh, Sunny V mixes his Texan penchant for stunting with an Atlanta-style delivery, over producer Get Cool‘s hand-clapping beat. The territory between Sunny’s two stomping grounds, Mississippi, is also represented with an appearance by David Banner, still in Get Like Me mode. There is no word yet on the release of Valentine’s currently untitled debut album.
I liked the beat a little bit, because I'm a closet hyphy fan...lol. So the beat kept me rocking. Sunny Valentine isn't bad, but there isn't any thing special about him either. Very cliche BTW...I mean, how many songs are named "So Fresh"...and how many songs have the line "I'm fly" in the hook? Probably more songs than records that Michael Jackson have sold. But David Banner snapped off! Man. The verse was vicious as ever! He must've drunk a Red Bull or something. I'll throw this in rotation for that reason alone.
The title and topic of this song hurt it before you press play. The material itself is just getting stale in the current marketplace. The work on the record isn't bad at all, including this unusual production work. Chorus is annoying. Sunny, I wanna hear more...
I like the beat but it's not new, it's similar to that of the song Tipsy by J Kwon...that was slower but they're similar! This track ain't bad but the verses are kinda boring...the chorus is better! Could go in the clubs..after 2 minutes it's already growing on me, I believe I'll like it in the end
