Those who aren’t tuned into the Arkansas indie scene may not be familiar with Suga City, but that shouldn’t be the case for much longer. The up-and-coming rap duo recently introduced themselves to gamers across the nation via megahit Xbox 360/PS3/Windows title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Even if you don’t have a current-generation console or a souped-up PC, it’s easy to appreciate the New New style emcees Arkansas Bo and Goines bring to this soundtrack inclusion/mixtape single. Over Kwestion‘s street-certified organ/synth-brass boardwork, Suga City announce their intent to revolutionize the formerly-wack rap game, ushering the genre into a new era of freshness. That’s a tall order – are they up to the challenge? I’m going to go ahead and say “yes,” mostly because I’m impressed with their ability to work the word “haberdashery” into a rap verse, but I’ll let Booth readers have the final say. Those who like what they’re hearing can find this track and much more on the duo’s new Black Friday mixtape, released this past Friday (if you hadn’t guessed) and available now online.

That opening production was enticing, but I wasn't expecting a voice like that on the opening verse, just because I've never heard these guys before. Overall, I don't think they really fit the beat too well on here. Both the artists and production is good, but not together. This was like ketchup and peanut butter.

Production is repetitive and feels like something Jazza Pha would have done in '05, but the vibe is positive and the overall impression is good. Whats next, fellas?

Man, Z with the "I liked it better when Jazze Pha" did it line. He's pulling no punches. For me I was digging the production enough to overcome the mediocre vocals. I see where they're going with this, and like it, they just didn't get there.

The beat captured my attention, but Suga City failed to sustain my interest. The farther the song goes the more boring it gets.

Yo...I got to disagree with some of yall. I'm feeling the song. This is not your typicaly southern sound and the guys are lyrical. Granted, I checked out their mixtape, and I like alot of the songs on the mixtape better.

I ACTUALLY LIKE IT! FEELS GOOD TO HAVE SOMETHING POSITIVE THAT PUSHES THE ENVELOPE. I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH U GUYS TO SOME DEGREE. THE MATCHUP IS A LIL DIFFERENT. BUT THATS THE REASON I LIKE. I LIKE DIFFERENT. BUT, BEING AN OLDER GUY AND DONE ON THE OVERKILL OF MAINSTREAM MUSIC OF WHO KILLED WHO, HOW MANY HOES, CLOTHES AND CARS I GOT, AND WHY U NEED TO CHECK MY SWAG. THIS FEELS GOOD. KEEP KILLIN EM FELLAS!!!

Aight, my rating is biased because I run the label Suga City is on BUT I got respect for everyone's opinions/critiques...even those who got jokes! We got more fire for yall! Before being an entrepreneur, I was a hip hop fan, and these cats can spit with the best of them.

I enjoy their flows but the production is weak. I like the part in which the song changes, at 3:30! not the best but not too bad

I personally rate "New New" and the entire "Black Friday" mixtape as CLASSIC! How one use words like boring, mediocre, and weak to describe this masterpiece, puzzles me. My assumption is they clearly weren't able to keep up with Goine's elaborate vocab or Arkansas Bo's sultry T.K.O.'s in every line. Nevertheless criticism is motivation. Real Hip Hop most definitely lives...and its in Arkansas. Suga City! Kwestion! Keep up the good work! Forward March!

I love Suga City not because I know these guys but because they are not your typical southern group. When I first listened to their music it kept me interested unlike so many other run of the mill local artists. They have a unique style and presence and WILL be big one day!!! "New New" is a great song but to really understand these guys you need to check out more of their music. three great songs "Muscle Music" "Biggie" "Lookin" www.iamthelife.net is where u can hear them! also myspace.com/sugacity
