The Strong Arm Steady Gang‘s Booth debut, Trunk Music, earned a more-than-respectable 3.25-star average rating but, as it turns out, that track was only the very beginning of what Krondon, Phil Da Agony, Mitchy Slik and company have to offer. Now, the West Coast crew are back in the Booth and ready to really Get Started with feature number two. Leaked to the ‘net in an unfinished version earlier this month but presented here in its final, official form, this new single begins with a guest verse from Talib Kweli. The conscious rap icon sounds right at home over Madlib‘s piano-loop beat (featuring a hook sampled from Roxanne Shante’s Def Fresh Crew) and the SAS crew are equally on point, lacing the track with some sage lyrical insights (“It ain’t all about gettin’ a check, just get it off of your chest/ Before you earn a dollar earn your respect.”) Craving more white-hot rhymes and tuneful beats? Keep it locked to our front page for the latest on Strong Arm Steady’s Stoney Johnson LP, produced entirely by Madlib.

The beat had Talib written all over it, so I wasn't too impressed/dissapointed with his contribution. I was eager to hear these SAS guys, and they delivered pretty well. Like their style, and they all brought a different look to the mic.

I agree, CB. There are just some productions that seem built for Kweli to rock over. Madlib knows how to work with an emcee like Talib, so that of course is no surprise. Good stuff.

Strong Arm Steady's one of the most slept on crews in the game, and with Kweli absolutely killing his verse (as CB pointed out) and a beat from Madlib? It's a wrap. I'm f**king stoked for this project to come out.

Strong Arm Steady + Talib + classic Madlib beat = ALL-AROUND CLASSIC! Definitely goes in my "mood music" vibe. SAS is what a hip-hop crew should be-everybody has a unique voice and can do well solo in a few years!
