Far from being intimidated by strong, assertive females, newly-independent R&B singer Steph Jones (formerly signed to Disturbing tha Peace) prefers his ladies empowered; super-empowered, if possible. Making its online premiere right here in the Booth, the first official leak off Steph’s forthcoming Gravity mixtape finds him paying tribute to a “star girl” who flew Up Up and Away with his heart. Of course, soaring through the sky is just one ability in this supergirl’s magical arsenal – she can also freeze time, light up the night with a flash of her eyes, control minds, and paralyze a man with a single kiss. John John Robinson backs the track with a propulsive arpeggiated-synth beat, accenting the singer’s vocals with layer after layer of glittering, overdubbed harmonies. If you’ve got a taste for upbeat, dancefloor-incinerating R&B jams, it a good bet that UUaA will leave you head over heels. If that’s the case, you can find plenty more out-of-this-world cuts to fall in love with on Gravity, set to hit the net tomorrow, Oct. 12.

Unique production to lead the track off, not sure if Steph Jones matched it very well with his vocals. He should have came a little stronger on here in my opinion. Chorus wasn't bad, but could have been better and more catchy. Not a big fan, but I appreciate the premiere!

Funky, fresh, and gives off a great 80s vibe. Chorus is very catchy, but I would have liked to have heard a few less vocal layerings (and effects). Not to be too picky, though, this is VERY solid for an R&B mixtape release. Looking forward to the rest of the project!

Props to Steph and his team for the premiere!

The acapella spazzing in the beginning caught my attention right away! I'd like to know why you aren't a fan of vocal layering Z? I think it sounds dope. In this new era of music, layering and new ill effects are dope!

The production on this is nuts. It's definitely something I'd add to my weekend soundtrack. I don't recall ever hearing anything prior to this from Steph Jones, so this is ILL!

Production alone..BANGER! I think I see what Z talking about..maybe over did the vocal layering just a little, gets a little annoying at times. However, pros (decent vocals, production, & catchy hook) outweigh the cons by far! Nice first impression.

I usually rock with DTP and co-sign all their moves...Dropping Steph (and Serius Jones too) is NOT one of them, and once "Up Up and Away" gets in regular rotation, they'll see exactly how big of a mistake they made.

Hope he's brought up on that "Inside DTP" show so we can get a good explanation (I hope it's all good between the two)

Hey Burmy, Steph asked the label for his release. They didn't drop him. Just a heads up.

I agree, though... their loss is his gain.

Pretty Decent. Have not heard from Steph Jones since Celebrity Chick. Nice Pop type joint. I did not know he was dropped from DTP.
