Statik Selektah - Im Wit It (Showoff Remix)
Artist: Statik Selektah
Featuring: Talib Kweli , Cory Mo
Producer: Statik Selektah
Album: The Pre-Game EP
Label: ShowOff/Duck Down
On his last feature, Statik Selektah joined forces with Booth favorites Skyzoo and Sha Stimuli to lament the mind-numbing repetition inherent in the daily grind: “Different Day, Same Sh*t, ain’t nothing good…” Despite that track’s downbeat theme, its formula – brassy, old-school boardwork, lyrically-talented guest muscle – is one well worth repeating. Im Wit It (Showoff Remix), the final leak off Statik’s Pre-Game EP finds the eminent DJ/producer continuing in a similar vein, this time enlisting the services of BK icon Talib Kweli and Lone Star State emcee/producer Cory Mo to flow over his bombastic, horn-synth production. Talib performs as impressively as ever on the front end, taking aim at the sucker emcees and style-biters, and Mo’s closing verse may come as a pleasant surprise to readers who weren’t won over by his first feature. The Pre-Game is available now from online retailers, and fans should keep it locked to the Booth for all the latest on Statik’s forthcoming studio album, set to hit store shelves sometime in spring of 2010.

What are you waiting for? Go pick up a "digital copy" of Statik's new digital EP. How many more dope cuts do we have to feature?

Glad to hear Talib finally go in on one, he's just been doing a lot of intros and hooks. In fact, Kweli sounds kind of old school on this one, like something off Reflection Eternal. Not as big of a fan of Cory Mo's flow (solid, nothing great, kind of sounds like Bun B), but that's nothing to hate on. Dopeness.

I almost based my rating on this about that "Stranger Than Fiction" song, which I replayed, then scrolled to this page. Then caught myself...
Anyway, Statik is a dope producer and he sounds great on his own production. Another dope song. |

I can throw this in the iPOD. Classic Talib. Talib never strays from his essence. Thats a good thing when you can be in the game that long without having to adopt today's ideals to become relevant or sound good. I like this.

I've gotten back into Talib Kweli lately, Black Star, Quality, Right About Now. He should seriously be mentioned in any GOAT discussion. Great track here.

Statik's masterfully produced brassy and skittering drums laced beat provide a perfect backdrop for the two emcees to get to work. And work they put in, but it somewhat lacks in hook department. Still, Rotation fa sho!

This production somehow blends these fairly different artist into one beautiful track. Talib is like the Denzel of hip-hop, regardless of what he chooses to do, you already know it's gonna be good.

Aaahhh yeah, this is very nicely done. No doubt. Talib shows off everytime he's on the mic. Cory Mo was impressive too and the production work cemented the joint.
