Statik Selektah - Critically Acclaimed
Artist: Statik Selektah
Featuring: Lil' Fame , Saigon , Sean Price
Producer: Statik Selektah
Album: 100 Proof (The Hangover)
Label: ShowOff/Duck Down
Critics take note: Statik Selektah and his crew are prepared lay the smack down on anyone who dares award them less than an A+, 5-star, one-hundred-percent great review. Fortunately for all who want to keep both their journalistic integrity and their teeth, the veteran beatsmith’s latest single is well-deserving of praise. Critically Acclaimed finds Heltah Skeltah alumnus Sean Price, Saigon, and M.O.P.‘s Lil Fame coming with their most aggressive rhymes over the Brooklyn vet’s characteristically gritty mix of midtempo percussion, record scratches, and horn/flute flourishes. Lyrical ultraviolence is the main focus here: over the course of the track, the collaborators threaten naysayers with black eyes, broken noses, decapitation, and, of course, gunshot wounds. This slice of East Coast boom-bap will doubtless live up to its name in the Booth (or else!); if you know what’s good for you, you’ll head out to your local record shop and pick up a copy of 100 Proof (The Hangover) when drops in early October.

It's no mystery why these dudes are critically acclaimed. Statik always comes with a hot beat. Everyone comes hard on this (it was real nice to hear Saigon). 5-star, 100% classic (I'd prefer to keep on his good side).

Statik Selektah records and good production go hand-in-hand like Brett Favre and comeback attempts. However, what separates the album-inclusion average tracks from the bangers are the emcees he chooses to recruit for the verses. Here, the job is done quite well- if you respect those chosen. I do.

Fiyah track... all of them ripped it and off course Statik come correct with the beat... They don't cover any new ground from a conceptual standpoint, but each one is blessed with serious ability on the M-I-C ... BANGER!!!

Not really my style of hip hop. This reminds me of "down for the count" by Reflection Eternal feat Xzibit and Rah Digga (who killed that shit. Lady Harriet)
