When it comes to rap, producers are just as responsible as emcees for a track’s success or failure. Unfortunately, while the man on the boards may be half of the equation, he typically receives far less than half of the credit. When a beat like Statik Selektah’s Take It To The Top comes around, you can’t help but hope the man gets his due. Sure, Cassidy, Saigon, and Termanology hold down their end on the mic, but the real star of the track doesn’t say a word. Statik really brings his A-game, mixing in some live-sounding drums and subdued bass with an airy guitar that makes the treble sing like an angel. If dope music isn’t your thing, don’t check out his upcoming mixtape, Stick 2 The Script (Sept. 30).
The produciton is so ill! Cassidy smashed this trash. The hook is absolutely ill and cut perfectly. I also like to hear Termanology always. Saigon held it down too. I think I can actually call this a classic. Statik Selektah is a beat. I think I will have to holla at that mixtape on September 30.
Yea this is really refreshing, Hip hop is on its way back yall. I see it comming back. I feel like the next 2 years are gonna be crucial to what it do. Ya'll Helpin the cause and BDF apreciates it! Hip Hop
I HEARD THIS TRACK ONTERMS MYSPACE LIKE A WEEK B4 IT WAS ON THA BOOTH ND I DIDNT REALLY LIKE IT CUZ IT WAS BAD QUILITY....BUT I LIKE THIS SONG NOW THAT I CAN ACTALLY HEEAR THE LYRICS.....STATIK SELEKTAH DOES AGREAT JOB ON THE PRODUCTION...TERMDOES GOOD AND CASSIDY TEASRS IT UP
a nice classic style hiphop,
done well, the lyrics, cutz are madd but sounds like theres somthing missing on the chorus the first scratch into the chorus over the electro efect kinda gave it away.
GOOD SONG I FEEL THE LYRICS N THE CUTS.
The production is off the hook on this one. That guitar like riddle on the bars is my favorite part, although the hook shows that vocoders don't necessarily equal T-Pain-like crap
