Stat Quo - Push Me Away
Artist: Stat Quo
Producer: Kevin Rachwel
Album: Smokin' Mirrors
Label: Big Dream Ventures
Apparently, a mixtape a month isn’t good enough for the unbelievably prolific Stat Quo—less than two weeks after the April 8th release of Invisible Man, the ATL rapper’s already back with a brand new street album. As evidenced by this newly-released cut, though, Stat’s breakneck pace doesn’t mean he’s sacrificing quality for quantity. Addressing a potential Mrs. Quo who’s got him rethinking his stance on commitment, the emcee makes one simple request: don’t Push Me Away. Despite the title, Stat doesn’t seem too worried; in fact, it sounds like things couldn’t be going better—the rapper’s carefree rhymes, filled with playful innuendo, blend with Kevin Rachwel‘s radiant, string-driven beat to make Push Me Away as blissfully relaxing as a musical bubblebath. Smokin’ Mirrors, Stat’s first release under his Gracie/EMI distribution deal, dropped today; as for the long-awaited Statlanta, the LP’s coming, and I quote, “...sooner than you think!!!”

I dont know if this is quite rotation worthy for me, but it aint bad at all. Stat Quo can do a lot better than this, his flow is kinda wierd to me. His lyrics are cool, tho, and the beat is tight.

Not sure why this isn't getting much love from our members... its solid all the way through (rhymes and production). Stat has taken the word "grind" to a whole new level. Very impressed by his work ethic and drive. This is rotation-worthy.

The beat is nice and i like the sample. But i agree with Mr. Top hat, the beat and his flow dont mesh as well as they should. Still a nice track, not his best, but its only a mixtape track. Cant wait for Statlanta

A change from Stat's usual energy filled tracks. Nice, smooth, laid back beat.

I wit Ultimate Hip hop and Mr. Top Hat wit this one. the production is clean and stat has some heat, but to@ether it doesn't blend well. His tone is not for this beat.

I love the chillin background music and sample. His flow is cool but I don't think it fits the production. I like him separately from the music and viceversa! 2,5
