It’s an age old dilemma for a relatively unknown artist. Get a major feature on your song and the world will pay attention, but then you risk becoming outshone on your own song, causing the populace to refer to you as “oh yeah, that group that did that song with Major Star that one time.” Example: the deeply conceptual and futurists StartYourOwnRebellion and their latest release Let It Go, where the group debut solidly with a song threading vocal influences from 50 Cent, Drake, and Pusha T (don’t mind my ears today, I’m hearing the smallest things). Even the production sets SYOR on a unique path as Canei Finch ties in sweet electro-acoustics into a hip-hop beat that wins. What (slightly) bothers me is guest emcee J. Cole.  On Let It Go he seems to compete with the crew that he has signed to his label (Dreamville), making this as much as his own song as it is SYOR’s. Or maybe I’m making too much of a guest feature? Either way, I’m looking forward to checking out SYOR’s album LP3020, available across the net right now.

Getting J. Cole on your joint is a sure fire way to get it recognized at this point. This works well, the beat and the flow are both fresh. Well done.

Dope track. J.Cole shines over this production, and he doesn't embaress anyone. Had a quick listen to their other tracks - they are nice, a little too commercial maybe and I couldn't help thinking more contributions from Cole would be good!

This track is actually pretty good, I prefer StartYourOwnRebellion over J.Cole on this joint.

But like my friend, they will probably be remembered as "The people that did the song with J.Cole"

Cole has a great ear for talent. SYOR have a dynamic sound and together lots of cohesion. You can tell they actually possess talent and were not just a group of individual thrust together to make music.

J. Cole does outshine the rest of the cast here but I don't think it should be any other way. J. Cole is a new artist himself. He's still making his mark on the industry. And he's a dope artist. I think this group is talented though, and the track is good enough that they will still get the attention they're due.

J. Cole had this in his back pocket. The production and is flow over it was great. SYOR is great addition to his new label.

The beat is very relaxed and calm. both artist did a great job but they both sound the same. There was no high point of the song and the hook could have been better. Overall cool song
