I have to admit that I was tempted to start this with a “Where’s Hutch?” joke, but, with nearly a decade of underground experience under his belt, I’m going to assume Starsky‘s heard that one a couple hundred times—not to mention, the Jersey native’s first Booth feature proves that he’s perfectly able to blaze a track solo. Going Back to the Block over a high-energy, electric guitar-driven instrumental by The Heatmakers, the emcee makes a compelling lyrical case for his hustle, his passion for hip-hop, and his artistic integrity, as well as letting all the wannabes know that their days are numbered. If this self-proclaimed “King of New Jersey” is half as hard-working and driven as he comes off here, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing much more of him in the Booth. BTTB can be found on the emcee’s The Crown Is Fit For Me LP, set to drop December 14th.

the hook, wen it first started i was finna say..
"this dude finna sing?????" haha but yeah the production is HOT altogether and dude pretty coo too. 2.5 stars. |

I thought this was a sick track. I like a lot of these underground artists and it is so nice to hear them with all this mainstream sh*t coming out where some of those rappers don't even have near as much talent as this guy and other underground artists. Tight production on here, good lyrics and I liked the hook.

I didn't think this was too special. Good underground track, I guess. Nuttin against Starsky tho, I liked a lot of what he spat about, just no WOW factor for me. I liked the guitar in the instrumental, but overall it and the hook are just OK.

I wouldn't say that "The Crown Is Fit For [Starsky]" just yet... but you can tell he has what it takes to turn a record into something special. The beat is the highlight on this one; has me anxious to hear what the next move is for this up-n-coming emcee.

Um...not really. I love the production. But, call me wrong, but the chorus sounded like a Michael Jackson wannabe...ugh. Won't be listening to this again. Production can't save this. But, it does earn it an extra star. So, overall, 1.7 stars.
